Dangerous Rock (Dangerous Noise 3)
She lights up when she sees us. "I thought you might back out." She winks at Joel. "You do hate to lose."
"Pipes, that cuts me. I thought you believed in me." He hugs her hello.
"What is it you always say?" She copies Joel's I'm fucking with you tone. "Sometimes you have to know when to fold?"
"Don't tell me you bet against me," he teases back.
Piper shakes her head. "If I bet, I can't be impartial." She turns to me. "You look really nice, Bella. How's married life treating you?"
"It's… exciting." I hug her hello.
She laughs. "Does that mean what I think it means?"
I nod. "Exactly what you think it means."
"I wouldn't expect anything less from Joel." She smiles. "Kit's in the bathroom. Ethan and Violet are on their way. Well, they were on their way. Knowing them—"
"They're having sex someplace," Joel says. "You have to admire the man's stamina."
Piper makes that same gross, that's my brother look.
Joel laughs. He really enjoys teasing… all kinds of teasing.
Mal cuts in. He shakes Joel's hand then pulls me into a hug. "Nice to see you, Bella."
I nod. "You too."
"You force him to watch?" Mal asks.
I stammer. "Um… maybe."
Mal chuckles. "He went fucking crazy, didn't he?"
Piper clears her throat. "One more word and I'm leaving the room."
Joel laughs.
Even I laugh. It's cute how much she hates hearing about her brothers' slash surrogate brother's sex lives.
Mal turns to my husband. "Same terms as always?"
Joel nods. "Who's judging?"
"Bella can't be impartial," Mal insists.
Joel slides his arm around my waist and pulls my body onto his. "Of course. As soon as she hears me groan, she's going to hand me the title."
He looks to Piper. "You game for this?"
The door pulls open and Kit steps inside. He's wearing the same outfit as last time—a button up black shirt, black jeans, and motorcycle boots. His mass of curly dark hair hangs over his dark eyes.
He gives Piper a long once over then he shoots Mal a look. "Do I want to know?"
"Moan off," Mal says.
Kit chuckles. "And you're asking your sister to judge?"
"Sounds like you're volunteering, Lockhart," Joel says.
