Dangerous Rock (Dangerous Noise 3)
Piper shakes her head. "A moan off."
Ethan makes that same ew that's my brother look Piper made. He turns to Mal. "You singing only Sinful
Serenade songs or you broadening your horizons?"
"Please. You really think he'd cede his home turf advantage?" Joel asks.
Mal chuckles. "I do what it takes to win."
Ethan and Violet take their seats on the bench. Kit comes over to plant a kiss on Piper's lips then he takes a seat next to his co-judges.
"Hey, why do you three look so serious all of a sudden," Joel says. "You want to go first for warm up songs, angel?"
"No. This time, I'd rather you go first." My cheeks flush. I don't mind saying vaguely dirty stuff around Joel.
But around his friends?
I'm going to die of embarrassment.
Only… no one seems to mind. If anything, they're charmed. I'm not sure what to make of the way they're looking at me. It's not like when everyone was staring like I'm from another planet.
It's more like they get why Joel married me.
Why I married him.
They see us together.
Joel nods. "As you wish." He punches in a song and turns towards me.
The lyrics to a familiar 80s song fill the screen. Joel keeps his eyes glued to me as he belts out the first verse.
He isn't a technically great singer. His pitch is a little off. But he sells every line. He thrusts his hips and strokes his mic and shoots me fuck me eyes.
During the breakdown, he slides into my lap and plays with my hair. He holds the mic away and leans in to whisper. "I'm going to fuck you in the bathroom in the hall."
He smiles as he shifts off my lap and goes back to seducing me from the makeshift stage.
When he's done, everyone claps. Mal and Ethan shoot Joel the same that's more than I need to know about you looks. It's funny. The two of them seem nothing alike, but they have the exact same mannerisms. They have the same blue eyes. Piper too.
The three of them are clearly siblings.
Me and Anne… the only things we have in common are the brown eyes and the inability to discuss our feelings.
I love my sister, but we're not all that alike. Or close.
Joel hands the mic to Mal then he takes the seat next to me. He holds me close through all the performances. Mal nails a sexy pop song. Ethan does his best impression of Tom deLong's nasally voice as he belts out Blink-182's All The Small Things.
Then it's Violet, channeling a rock goddess as she sings a Garbage song. This must be somewhere on Anne's playlists. It's familiar. And Violet is really into the song. The passion is written all over her face.
Kit gets up on stage and shoots Piper a panty melting look. "This is for you, baby."
The screen flashes with I'm a Slave For You by Britney Spears. It's not what I'd expect from a guy as stoic as Kit, but from the way Piper is turning every shade of red, I'd say it's working.
He isn't quite as obvious about his seduction as Joel, but he gets the job done.
He hands the mic to her but she shakes her head. "I need a minute."
He smiles victoriously, sits next to her, pulls her into his lap.
