“I’m just curious how serious you are about her.”

“Since when have you ever been curious about who I’m seeing?”

A tinge of red flooded her cheeks.

“Come on, Rachel. Why did you stop by so late to tell me your good news? You could easily have told me this morning when you saw me at the diner.”

“I forgot and thought I’d stop by tonight, instead.”

“All right.” Drake didn’t believe her for a split second.

“So, how serious are you about Bliss?”

That time, Drake saw the hesitation she was trying to hide in her eyes.

“Tell me,” he ordered.

Rachel sighed. “I never was any good at keeping a secret. I talked to Cash an hour ago. He’s at Rosie’s with the guys. Bliss is in there, snuggled up against Greer. If you’re not serious about her, then never mind. If you are serious about her, I thought you should know.”

“How long ago was this?” She had told him she hadn’t been with anyone since she had left The Last Riders. Obviously, if she couldn’t get him to end her dry spell, she was going to find someone else.

“Cash called again right before I knocked. She’s still there. After Stephanie, I thought you deserved to know before—”

“Before I made a fool of myself again?”

“That wasn’t what I was going to say,” Rachel denied quickly.

“You didn’t have to,” Drake said grimly as he stood up. “I need to leave. Could you do me a big favor?” He waited for her nod. “Jace and Cal are upstairs playing video games. Could you take them to your house for the night?”

Rachel raised a brow. “They’re old enough to be alone while you’re gone—”

“They may be, but I’m not coming back alone,” he promised, though more to himself than her.

Rachel caught his arm before he could leave. “Be careful, Drake. You know Greer has a mean temper. He’s like a grouchy bear if you try to take something he wants.”

“You’ve never been to my hunting lodge, have you?”

“No, why?”

“You and Cash should go sometime. I love to show off my trophies. My favorite is a bear I caught two years ago. Don’t worry, I can handle Greer.”

Drake left Rachel with her mouth hanging open.

Chapter 7

“Thirsty?” Greer asked as he led Bliss from the dance floor back to the bar.

“I’m always thirsty,” Bliss replied as she slid onto the bar stool seductively.

Greer’s gaze didn’t leave her cleavage as he leaned against the counter near her. “We can’t have that.” He motioned to Mick to bring another beer.

“I think you’re just the man to quench my thirst.” Bliss moved her hand to Greer’s belt, tugging him closer to her side.

“Woman, you’re playing with fire.”

“I’ve never been afraid of being burned. Besides, my panties are flame resistant,” she teased.

“They’d have to be with a hot piece like you.”

Bliss’s provocative smile slipped when the bar door opened and Drake strode inside. The expression on his face had her body stiffening.

What the fuck is he doing here? In all the years she had been coming to Rosie’s, she had never seen him inside the bar.

He scanned the crowd as if looking for someone. Surely he wasn’t looking for her, was he? How would he have even known she was there? What would it have mattered to him, anyway?

She leaned closer to Greer, hoping his body would block her from view.

“Woman, I like going fast, too, but I’ve never been one for going at it in public. But hell, I’m game if you are.” Greer slid his hand up her arms before pressing her closer to his chest.

“Let her go, Greer. Now.”

A voice so cold that ice ran through her blood came from behind her, and it had both her and Greer stiffening.

“Go away, Drake, and mind your own business.” Greer didn’t release her.

“It’s my business when you’re holding my woman.”

Oh, shit! Bliss frantically tried to gather her frightened thoughts. Something about Drake’s attitude was sending panic through her bloodstream. No man had ever called her his woman. The most Stark had done to claim her was call her his bitch.

“She ain’t yours. She’s been rubbing against me all night like a cat in heat. No woman who belongs to another man behaves like that.”

“She does when she doesn’t know who she belongs to. She’ll learn that lesson tonight and never forget it again. You, on the other hand, need to let her go and get the hell out of here, or cousin or not, Tate will be coming to drive you to the ER.”

Bliss felt Greer release her, his body shifting away from hers.

“You’re not going to fight him over me?” Bliss asked in disbelief. Everyone in town knew the Porters used any excuse for a fight.

“Hell no. Drake’s my cousin. Kin don’t fight over women.”

“Just a few minutes ago, you were promising to fuck me into tomorrow. What happened to that?” Bliss snapped at the good-looking man who was slipping farther away from her.
