Her Destiny (Shifted Love 5)

Cason swung me up into his arms before I could attempt to remove it and stalked back to the office. “It’s a damn good thing the restaurant is closed today, baby,” he growled. The feel of his rough hands on my bare skin reminded me that I had just run into my kitchen naked.

“This is all your fault,” I grumbled as I crossed my arms under my breasts, causing his step to falter for a second as he was momentarily distracted. With a shake of his head, he broke from the spell and continued to his intended destination.

“The burnt food? I’ll cop to that,” he drawled with a smirk.

“That, too,” I snipped with a fake pout. “I can’t believe I just went into a professional kitchen naked! Do you have any idea what a big deal that is?”

He nodded as he set me on my feet, his expression sober. “You could have been hurt.”

“Yeah, yeah. But if an inspector had been here, we could have lost our A rating!” I corrected him.

Cason’s face darkened, and his eyes narrowed. “If someone had been here, they would no longer have the ability to see.”

I rolled my eyes and let Cason help me redress. Shifters cared much less about nudity than humans, mainly because we had to get naked to shift or risk ruining our clothes. But Cason didn’t seem to accept the norm, and he got particularly growly and possessive when it came to my body. Other women would probably have been annoyed, but I had to admit, I thought it was incredibly sexy.

“I love you,” I whispered as he stood from where he’d been kneeling to button my pants.

He tenderly cupped my face in his two large hands, making me feel loved and cherished. Especially when I could see unfettered emotion in his beautiful eyes. “I love you too, baby. Thank you for this amazing life you’ve given me. You and our pups are everything to me.”

I beamed at him and went on my tiptoes to brush a kiss over his lips. “Don’t thank me. You were my destiny.”
