The Lyon's Cub Caitlin (Lyon The Next Generation 1)
“Would this be of any help?” He pulled something from his pocket and turned it on.
“My wife found this on our daughter’s computer, it came in either late last night or early this morning.” We all tried to get a peek at what was on the screen.
“Wait, Colt, isn’t that that neighborhood around back? Look at that house with all the glass. We thought they were trying to copy your back wall remember.”
“Looks like it Jared.”
“My guess, it was taken by a drone, we don’t know who’s flying it, but it’s obvious they’re trying to see into people’s houses and I don’t know any recreational drones that can pick up sound but this one can.”
“Fucking Mengele.”
“Who?”
“My kid!”
“Oh, so she really is like Lily. Is it safe to say that they’re looking for these trafficking fucks in this neighborhood?”
“That would be my guess...” I started to say more but he held up his finger.
“Mouth, where the fuck is it?” He started patting himself down and every man in the room looked at him like what the fuck. Then he removed something off his suit jacket, yeah, he was dressed for the boardroom or some shit, anyway he took this thing that looked no bigger than a rice grain and walked over and dropped it in the glass of water on my desk.
“My wife just heard everything you said.”
“Oh shit, is she downstairs with the girls?” Connor was damn near out of his seat. I am entirely too old for this bullshit.
Todd
I dropped her off but hung around after she went inside. I hadn’t seen Brian among the horde but that didn’t mean he wasn’t here. I told her to call me if he said shit to her and knew that she would because she was still trying to make up for last night.
Back at the house there was a coupla new cars that weren’t there when I left but I didn’t think anything of it. Mrs. Lyon opened the door and let me in. “The cleaners just called, they’re over there now.”
“Do I need to go let them in?”
“Oh no, they know where to find the key. I’m gonna go over later and make sure they’ve taken care of everything. There should be new sheets 0n the beds and towels and stuff, if there’s anything else needed we’ll take care of it. You go on upstairs the others are in the office.”
I went up and found a coupla new guys. Two I knew in passing but three of them I’d never seen before. “This is my son in law Todd.” Mr. Lyon introduced me to the newcomers and they must’ve been left wondering why the hell I looked like I was about to spaz out.
Son in law! I would’ve asked for a minute to enjoy the moment but they looked like they were in the middle of some serious shit. I cannot tell you what it felt like to sit in that room with that level of respect after that. No one said or did anything different, but I felt the change. Oh shit!
Prince of The City
“Did you have fun with your new friends?” We were in the car on the way back. I’d been there much longer than I expected and was still processing shit.
“How much did you hear?”
“Enough, so there’s a human trafficking ring and some kinda offshoot in this neighborhood?”
“Seems like, and our kid’s the one who found them more or less.”
“What’s with the drone?”
“Lyon’s kid apparently took her brother’s drone which he had no idea had been doctored and went hunting.”
“Good girl! So our Lily’s starting early.”
“Mouth, none of your shit. I already let you teach her how to shoot that damn thing you call a toy. Leave my kid alone.”
“You heard what the teacher said; we should encourage her. By the way, those women, hello. Okay, so the ones that have only been married for a year or so I understand, but Kat? Almost twenty years in and she still doesn’t know how to play the game.”
When she started tying up her hair I knew where her mind was going. Meddling fuck!
“Listen, you leave those people be, that man has his house set up just the way he likes it, nobody asked for your help.”
“Yeah, that’s why his eight year old daughter is hunting down assholes with drones. By the way, how did you know I was listening in?”
“When I turned on my handheld to show them the images you took off Lily’s computer there was an interference in the frequency.”
“Dammit, but why’d you have to put it in water? Those things cost a mint.”
“Yo Shane, I didn’t know Mallory had a brother.”
“Me neither Mikey.”
“So what’s he like and who all was up there? I met the wives but they weren’t talking, which tells me at least they have sense.”
