“I do love you,” she whispered. Relief, satisfaction, and consuming need pushed him to take another stroke at the same time as he kissed her on the lips.

He lifted his head and watched her as her lids slowly opened over her eyes. “I love you, too. You know that?” he asked her.

“No.”

“Yes,” Another stroke and he was on a knife’s edge. He moved his hand between them and opened her soft little fold until he was pressing against her clit.

“John—” Her voice was a keening wail as he felt her pulsing grasp clenching around him.

“Come, baby. Come for me and tell me that you’ll marry me. Please.” He lost it completely and hammered at her.

Her orgasm hit her and her scream rent the air around them. “Yessssss.”

With her agreement ringing like sweet nirvana to his ears, he pushed into her hard and followed her over the edge

Epilogue

Three years later…

“It’s positive,” Sarah said in a voice filled with joy and amazement as she walked into the barn.

John laid down the wrench and picked up a rag and began wiping his hands. A smile creased his mouth as he walked over to her. “I’m surprised you doubted me, babe.”

She let go of the bundle in her arms with one hand and socked him in the shoulder. “I didn’t doubt you, babe.”

The baby in her arms clapped her hands with glee and began babbling at full volume. John ran his hands over the silky smoothness of his daughter’s hair and then held out his arms and just managed to catch her as she propelled herself forward.

“So now we know we can probably have as many as we want,” he puffed out with a note of ill-concealed pride.

“Well, I don’t think we should take anything for granted, but yeah, I hope so.”

“How many do we want?” he asked as he held the baby close even as he wrapped his other arm around Sarah and pulled her in next to him.

“I don’t know. Three, four maybe?”

“And the big question—which school will we send them to?”

Sarah laid her hand on her husband’s cheek. He’d given Top Hill the funding they needed for the retirement community as his wedding present to her. In doing so, the school would be open for a long, long time. The little town was thriving even now, three years later, with the addition of a diner and a feed store. The community was growing, the population expanding. Sarah didn’t doubt that at the next census the population increase would be substantial.

But they lived on John’s ranch and Duluth was by far the closest town. “I guess Duluth. The bus drives right by the mailbox.”

“I think that would be best, if you don’t mind.”

“I don’t mind at all. They’re both good schools.”

His daughter stuck her thumb in her mouth and laid her cheek on his shoulder. She looked back and forth between her mother and father.

He kissed the baby on her forehead and then kissed Sarah on hers. He snaked his hand around until he held her soft belly under his palm. “I love you.”

“I love you, too,” she smiled.

The baby grunted a little baby command. John smiled at his daughter. “We love you, too, angel.”

She took her thumb from her mouth and beamed at him.

Love and satisfaction ran through him. Yep, his life was complete.
