Stalking Her

« Prev  Chapter  Next »

I sit until the early hours of the morning, and I know the doorman is about to change shifts before I pull out of the parking lot. Tonight is Saturday, and my hopes lift that I’ll get to see her again if she comes in with her girlfriends.

Brooke

He let me walk away. I’ve replayed the other night over and over in my head, and I know he wanted it—heck, he enjoyed it just as much as I did. But he let me leave.

The next morning, I went to yoga and the grocery store. The feeling that I’m being watched is overwhelming, but every time I look around, I never see him.

I skipped out on my friends on Saturday. By that point, I was second-guessing everything. I’m not the type to have sex in a bar, but maybe Lane doesn’t know that. I pretty much pushed myself on him, and maybe if he had asked for my number or when he was going to see me again, it would be different. But he didn’t.

By the time Monday comes around, I feel like I’m on edge and am going crazy. I have a lunch meeting with another attorney at the Gardens. It’s a high-end sushi restaurant, and even though I hadn’t eaten breakfast, I still am unable to eat. I know I’m being watched. I knew it this morning when I left my apartment, I knew it when I got to work and walked in the office building. The hairs on the nape of neck are not lying to me. Lane Davis is somewhere close. My body senses it.

During the lunch meeting, I look all around, ignoring Mr. Teller. “Are you okay?” he asks me.

Deciding that I can’t focus on anything at this point, I tell him honestly, “Actually, I’m afraid I’m out of sorts today. I think we have gone through everything that you need for Friday’s case. I’m going to take today and tomorrow to get it all prepared, and I’ll bring it by your office tomorrow afternoon if that’s okay with you.”

“That’s perfect. I’m impressed already with all you’ve found, Ms. Wilson. You are already proving to be an asset to the company.”

I nod. “Thank you.”

He gathers his belongings and picks up the check from the table. “Can I give you a ride back to the office?”

But I’m already shaking my head. “No. Thank you, though. I’m going to visit the ladies’ room, and then I think I’m going to get some air and walk back to the office.”

We part ways, and I walk down the hall to the bathroom, but instead of going in, I keep going straight until I walk out the back door of the restaurant and into the alley.

With my hands on my hips, I pace back and forth. There are busy roads at each end of the alley, cars and people walking by. But the alley is empty. This can turn out to be a very bad decision on my part, but I’m not thinking so.

I don’t know how much time goes by, but I’m just about to give up. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe Lane wasn’t here and wasn’t watching me. Maybe I’m going mad.

Just as I’m about to walk down the alley, the back door of the restaurant flings open, and a breathless Lane comes running out. He stops suddenly, and I note the look of relief on his face. I was right. He’s here… and he’s been watching me.

“Are you following me?”

He nods without answering, his nostrils flaring. It reminds me of the other night when he had the same determined look on his face; however, then he was pleasuring me, pounding in and out of me.

I cross my arms over my chest. I’m tired of this game. “Why are you following me?”

Pain is etched on his face. “I can’t help myself.”

I shake my head and put my hands on my hips, needing an explanation, so I ask him point blank, “Do you want to date me?”

“No,” he says instantly.

Anger fills me. I was right. He wanted one night and got that from me. But that doesn’t explain why he’s following me. “Then what do you want?” I throw my hands up in the air.

Lane

“I want you.” I take two steps toward her, but then I take one step back. Even being this close to her is too tempting.

I know I should leave, but the look on her face makes me stand my ground. She deserves an answer, and I won’t be anything but honest with her. “A date won’t suffice. It won’t even whet my appetite for you. I want you all the time. I want you in my arms. I want to wake up to you in the morning. I want to be the one you call when you need something – anything. I want to hold your hand. I want your perfect lips wrapped around my dick. I want your eyes on me and only me. I don’t want any man to look at you, and if he does, I don’t want there to be any doubt that you belong to me.” I’ve given up on holding back. The more I talk, the darker her eyes get, and it’s the same look she gave me when we were having sex the other night. I take one step, then another, and I don’t stop until her back hits the brick wall. I press my body to hers, and fuck it feels like home. “I want you wet… for me.”
