Deviants (Badlands 2)
With that, I began to pour the liquor over his wound, drenching the rag hanging out of it. I made sure I coated some of his skin for added benefit.
Some men would have felt an ounce of remorse for discarding someone who had worked for them for so long. He was my eyes and ears of the outliers, feeding me information and keeping me updated.
It was his idea to use his sister to further my agenda.
When I made sure the stupid bitch got burned at the stake, he suddenly wanted to feel regretful. He didn’t care when she was fucking me, my brothers, and anyone else that gave her an illusion of power, never defended her when I made her ass bleed and then locked her in a dog cage because she pissed me off.
I fucked her mind to the point of insanity and then fed her to the wolves. When he discovered Cali, it was because of me. I gave him the fucking order to drive down the road she was dumped on when I found out what David had done.
“You made me think she was dead.” I took the lighter from Cobra and looked at the sack of shit dangling in front of me. He told me he’d found the body; he’d lied to my face.
“Listen,” he began to plea, grunting when Grimm’s fist met his mouth, jerking his head to the side.
“Shut the fuck up. There’s nothing left for you to say,” Grimm leveled in an even tone.
Tito’s head lolled back down and he whispered an apology that wasn’t good enough to wipe my ass with. I never trusted him but I relied on him for information.
It was only when word reached me that David had started searching for Cali that I knew Tito had lied. Sending Janice in had proved to be a waste of time. For four fucking years, they kept the wool over my eyes and fucked one another.
Never again would I be so comfortable in my position. I needed to stay hands on and ride all these motherfuckers so hard that they had heart palpitations if they even thought of going behind my back.
I flipped the lid of the lighter back and lit up the rag. Flames consumed the cloth within seconds, reaching into his bullet hole and burning the surrounding flesh.
“Damn,” Cobra laughed, jumping back as Tito wailed.
Cali watched on in silent fascination.
His agonized screams filled the room. He looked like a worm on a hook, twisting around uncontrollably.
An audible pop was heard as his shoulders dislocated. With his contorted body hanging in the pulley and flames eating his flesh, his screams cut off and he passed out.
“It was just getting good,” Grimm mused, walking to the sink in the back of the room, his heavy boots thudding across the concrete floor.
I breathed in all the different smells, feeling a sense of comfort from being in my element.
“You good back there, Bryce?” I couldn’t keep the humor out of my voice.
“Never better,” he deadpanned.
“You sure about what we’re going to do?” Cobra asked quietly, watching Grimm as he lazily doused the fire close to consuming Tito’s balls.
“You know our plan is solid. We’ll all be right there,” Grimm reassured me.
He was right. We’d gone over a million possible outcomes and tweaked the plan so we could control how it all went down.
“We need to get going,” I turned and made
my way towards the door, taking Cali with me.
I wanted to chain her up in a fucking cellar until her dying day but the need to have her beside me was too damn compelling. I despised that she made me care so fucking much. Hatred was so much easier to cope with than whatever the fuck it was I felt for her.
One woman was wreaking havoc on my iron-willed control, but she was carrying my child and accepting it without argument. That only solidified the fact that I’d made the right choice in keeping her.
Now it was time to end this shit once and for all so we could move forward with our lives. It was time to rack up our body counts and stain our hands red.
CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
Everything was about to change.
