She hesitated, but they were in the shallow end of the pool. She could stand up if necessary. She leaned back against him with a sigh, letting her feet float up. He nuzzled her neck.

“Thank you for trusting me.”

Pleasure filled her at his words. Of course, that might have something to do with his hands that still grasped her breasts.

“Not sure this sort of technique would be approved by other swim instructors,” she teased.

“Just as well since I’d have to murder any swim instructor who did this to you,” he growled back. That possessive tone made her insides melt. “Hold onto my neck. You’re going to do some floating.”

He started moving and she reached back to grab hold. His hands tightened around her breasts and she moaned.

“Spread your legs wide.”

She tensed. She couldn’t do it.

“Now, Aspen.”

She spread her legs. He kept a tight hold on her, not letting her slip.

“Good girl. That’s a very good girl to spread your legs for me.”

She rolled her eyes. “How come everything you say comes out sounding sexual?”

“Only when I’m talking to you,” he replied. “You must have sex on your mind. Must be from all that spying. Move one arm away from my neck and s

traight out into the water.”

She tightened her hold. “I can’t.”

“You can. And if you’re a good girl you get a reward. I’d bet you’d really like that after that spanking got you all warmed up.”

“It did not.”

“No lying, little girl.”

Well, shoot. “Maybe it did a little,” she muttered.

He snorted. “I had my finger buried deep in your pussy. You’re wet and hot and you know it.”

Well, fuck. Not much she could hide from him. She grumbled under her breath.

“Now do as you were told and let one arm go. I won’t let you sink.”

I won’t let you sink.

She let those words slip through her brain as she forced one arm free of the tight grip she had on him and pushed it out.

“That’s right, just like a starfish. You’re doing so well, sprite. Now the other arm. No, don’t tense up, don’t think. Just do it. All you have to do is what I say. I’ll take care of the rest.”

She pushed her other arm out. It was a sign of just how much she trusted him. And not just with her safety.

“That’s good. I’m not going to let you go. You’re doing so well. That’s it. Just float like that. Nice and relaxed. I still have hold of you. I won’t let you go.”

His words drifted over her, through her as she looked up at the star-filled sky. This felt peaceful. Her brain and all the thoughts and worries that overwhelmed her just drifted away leaving her free to just live in the moment.

“That’s it.” He pressed a kiss to the underside of her ear, making her shiver. “Come back to me now.” He blew a soft breath against her ear. “Come on, there you are.”

She blinked, realizing where she was. “Sorry, I . . .”
