Lucky Ride (Men of Valor MC)
I see past a bunch of motorcycles parked outside of a clubhouse, and I swear I see Logan.
“Clover,” I hear, or at least I think so, but I must get out of here. What feels less than a minute later, I hear the clunking of my car as it dies. Son of a bitch. I’m out of gas. The thundering roar of motorcycles in the background gets my attention. I shiver from the cold and pure fear.
“Unlock the door, baby,” Logan demands in the sweetest voice.
“Please don’t hurt me.” I’m not sure if I’m just talking about the danger tonight. Logan has more of me than he understands. Hell, I don’t know why I can’t stop thinking about him.
“Fuck. Never, Clover.” I unlock it and am about to grab the handle when he opens it and pulls me into his arms. “Are you okay?”
“I don’t know,” I sob on his shoulder. He smells good, but then I remember he’s here at the club with all those bitches and I bet that’s why he’s wearing cologne. I breathe him in.
“Let’s get her back to the clubhouse and get her warm. She’s got to be fucking freezing,” someone says from behind me. Logan loosens his grip on me and I cry out, clinging to him like a monkey. “Calm down, Lucky. I’m just taking my coat off.” I relax and then feel the warmth as he wraps it around my body.

“I’m taking her back to my house. Meet me there, and hide this fucker. I have a feeling we have a problem with what I was just telling you.” Fuck, I’m going to crush Carl’s windpipe myself. I’d been at her apartment all fucking night, not sleeping a wink, worrying about that fuckhead coming back. When I saw them drop Cara off, I figured Clover was safe and I went to talk to my guys. All night, I fought the urge to go up to the second floor and break the door down to steal her away.
She lives in one of the shitty parts of town. You’d think with an MC in the area that we’d be the ones to cause the trouble, but it’s the fucking cops turning this town into one big-ass trap house.
“We got you,” Gage says, clapping my back. We all had beefs with these fucks in one way or another. We served our country and they’re supposed to be serving theirs, but they’re no better than the standard drug dealers, murderers, and rapists.
“Call us when you’re ready to strike,” Bullet says. I know my brothers have my back and I’m going to need them, but I’ll kill these bastards by myself.
“I need recon.” They nod, so I continue. “I need someone to scope out the house. Cara’s probably in danger.”
“On my way now.”
“Sorry, it’s going to be a little cold,” I tell her as I set her on my bike, straddling it in front of me.
She presses her lips to my chin. “I’m burning up. They blew drugs in my face. I don’t know what it was. Cocaine? Something you snort.”
She sounds so fucking innocent that I can’t wait to get my hands around Carl’s neck. I’m going to snap it and leave him in the middle of the woods for some hungry animals. “We need to get you hydrated and warm.”
“Were you out fucking those women tonight?” she hisses as I turn on the engine.
“No, Lucky. I wasn’t. Let’s get you home before you freeze to death.” I rev and then speed out into the night away from the club and toward my house. I’m due at the diner in about two hours, but I’m going to get her settled and safe while I go to work. I have a lot to think about. This town belongs to us, not the damn shady fucks. I’ll bury anyone who dares to hurt my lucky Clover.
She shivers around me and then snuggles deeper. I’m glad I don’t have far to go because even in these frigid temps, I’m getting hard with her perfect little body wrapped around me. I pull into my driveway and park my Harley. I set Clover on her feet to the side of the bike before getting off. I’d tuck the motorcycle in the garage, but I have shit to do and most of it will be done at the diner.
“Let’s get inside.” I scoop her up and then unlock the front door, hitting my alarm and entering my code. Once it’s clear, I set her down on my sofa and turn on the end table's light.
Her eyes adjust, and then she looks at her legs and so do I, wishing I’d kept my eyes to myself. “Wow. Holy shit,” she exclaims, interrupting my thoughts of those legs thrown over my shoulders.
“What’s up?” I swallow hard as I get the words out.
