Kiss Me, I'm Irish-ish
“I have a t-shirt you can wear to bed, if that’s okay.”
“I sleep naked,” she says, and I chuckle.
“So do I, little bird. So do I.”
Not for the first time, I wonder how the hell I got so lucky.
Chapter 4
Raven
Two Weeks Later
I’ve all but moved into Javi’s house. He took me to the pub the next morning to get my stuff then home to get ready for work. He was in constant contact throughout the day. I swore to myself that I was going to play it cool, but after work all I wanted was to be in his arms, so I drove over to his place.
Unannounced.
I wasn’t sure what to expect but I hadn't even knocked on the door yet and I was in his arms. The rest is history. Every day more and more of my stuff left the basement at my parent’s house and ended up in his house. He even bought me a dresser that matches his. He moved all of his clothes and shoes to one side of the closet so that my stuff could invade the other side. The bathroom remodel is complete, so Sophia’s things are back in there and mine are on pretty much every surface of the master bathroom. He hasn’t said anything about it though. What he has done is pretty much everything to make me feel at home. I’ve been cooking him meals and we’ve made love in every room of the house. He’s spoiled me with love, affection, and attention. I’ll never get enough of him.
My parents are home now so we are going to dinner with them next weekend and his parents the following weekend. I am excited for them to meet Javier. I've talked my mom's ear off all day about him.
"Oh honey. You know I'm happy for you, but don't get your hopes up. He's forty. If he hasn't settled down yet, he never will."
"I think he was waiting for me," I say.
"Every woman thinks they will be the one to get a man to settle down. It's just not true."
"Thanks for the warning, mom," I say, continuing to remove the foils from my client’s hair. I know she's trying to protect me, but she just doesn't get it. He's it for me and I don't think it's crazy that I fell so completely in love with him the first day I met him. Nothing in the days since has made me second guess that feeling. I am looking forward to the little trip Javier has planned for us. He won’t tell me where we are going only that we are going for five days.
Five glorious days of just him and I.
He told me to pack nothing but bathing suits and a nice dress. I finish up with my client and clean up my station then head home. When I get there, he’s watching TV waiting for me.
“Welcome home, mi amor,” he says, pulling me into a hug, then he kisses me.
“Thanks.”
“Are you packed?” he asks.
“Yep. It’s in the closet. Now, when and where are we going?”
“We need to leave for the airport first thing in the morning. We are going to the Virgin Islands.”
“The Virgin Islands!” I shout. I’ve always wanted to go there. Well, any island really, but Saint Thomas has always been on my vision board, which is in our closet. I jump up and down a few times and then I kiss him again. “I love you, I love you, I love you,” I chant in between kisses.
“I love you too, little bird, but there’s more.”
“More? What more could there possibly be?” I ask.
Suddenly, he’s down on his knee in front of me with an iconic blue box in his hand. It’s like everything is in slow motion, except for my breathing.
“Marry me,” he demands, putting the gorgeous pear shaped diamond ring on my finger. It’s platinum. Holy shit.
“Yes. Oh my god, yes.”
“As if I would have taken no for an answer. I have everything arranged. We’re getting married on the beach at sunrise Saturday morning.” He smirks and stands, scooping me up in his arms. I am in awe. That is exactly what I’ve always dreamed of for my wedding. How the hell did he know that? I’ve never told anyone that little tidbit, not even Pinterest. He carries me to the bed and proceeds to make love to me until we have to go. I change into a beachy dress and we are off.
He’s thought of everything. First class, sparkling apple juice, he even grabbed my Kindle off of my nightstand. I definitely would have forgotten that. We take our seats and I fasten my seat belt.
“Welcome aboard Regal Air flight 3435 non-stop to Saint Thomas. Our flight time is four hours, six minutes. Please turn off all electronics and prepare for takeoff.”
