Cruz (Hot Shots 2)
With one last look at Cruz rocking Sailor in the glider that’s in his room, I return to the living room, pick up the toys, clean up anything messy that’s been lying around, and wait to face the music.
“God, I really hope this doesn’t get nasty,” I say to the empty room. It didn’t take all that long to pick up the few toys that were left out, and it’s not like there was a huge mess. I open up the sliding glass door, take a step outside, and breathe in the salty air.
My mind returns to that night, the memories, the moans, the groans, the way Cruz whispered in my ear in Spanish, not knowing everything he said but understanding a few bits and pieces. That’s why, when his manager came in the next morning saying what he did, none of it made sense, but what did I know? I was nineteen at the time, and I had just given my virginity to a man after a few cocktails and sweet words whispered in between.
“Sailor’s fast asleep. I wasn’t sure how you leave him when he’s in bed. I covered him up with a blanket, the door is cracked, and his pacifier isn’t leaving his mouth anytime soon.” Cruz walks out to where I’m standing, my arms wrapped around myself, struggling on how to go from here.
“Thank you. That pacifier is like his favorite toy, I swear. It worries me, or it did. Now, not so much, but I’m sure braces will be in our future,” I respond, not even realizing I was talking about us until I feel Cruz’s arms wrap around mine, pulling my back to his front.
“I have more questions than I do answers.” The way his accent floats in the night air causes my body to shiver. That shouldn’t be possible in our eighty-degree weather.
“I’m not even sure where to begin,” I breathe out. There’s so much, and Cruz may not be mad at me right now, but I know it’ll come. There are so many emotions that I’m sure both of us have gone through.
“Mi diosa, one step at a time.” I don’t respond. I’m going to let Cruz lead this talk. The emotions are already bubbling up inside me, and if I go off, well, it may make me come off as a deranged woman, and nobody should be a witness to that.

Cruz
If I thought for one fucking second this would be easy, I’d be lying. It seems we both have a lot on our minds. The way Luna’s body locks up when I bring her closer to me tells me everything. “Breathe, baby, just breathe.” My head dips down, whispering into her ear.
“That might be easy for you to say, Cruz, but it’s not for me.” Luna spins around, her hair a riotous of waves. She must have taken her hair down at some point.
“Mateo, my given name is Mateo,” I breathe out, hating her calling me by my last name, something I should have done that one night all that time ago.
“That explains so much,” she mumbles, her blue eyes not quite meeting mine.
My hands move to her shoulders, skating a path up until I cup the back of her neck, my thumbs gliding over her pulse point at the base of Luna’s neck.
“Yeah, I imagine it does.”
“What are you doing to me?” Luna asks.
“If you’re asking that question, I’m clearly not doing enough.” My lips seek hers, slow and hesitant, not sure if I want to show Luna what exactly she does to me. Not after the shit she kept from me, how she had no problem leaving, having our child on her own. When her tongue comes out to wet her lips, that’s enough to kick my ass into action. She pulls back, but I crowd into her, backing her up until she’s pressed against the deck railing. My tongue seeks hers. She gives as good as she gets.
One of my hands moves from her neck, sliding down her smooth body until I cup her breast, palming it in my hand, wanting to her moan.
“Wait, we can’t do this.” She pulls her mouth away, taking her taste with her, the unique flavor that’s all Luna.
“Oh, we’re doing this. Not for one minute are you running away from me again.” I watch as she stares at me, her mouth opening and closing in surprise.
“I didn’t freaking run out on you. You left, and when you did, your piece of shit manager let me know exactly what you thought about me.”
“What the fuck are you talking about?” I step back from her. Luna’s normally light blue eyes have changed to a darker in color, and it’s not because I’m wringing an orgasm out of her.
“Your manager. You should really talk to him. I can’t remember his name. Lake, Pond, some form of body of water? Whoever the hell it is, he told me everything.” With that, she marches her ass into the house, closing the sliding glass door, attempting to shut me out. I’m not letting this go though, no fucking way in hell. Especially when it comes to Luna and our son. I swear to God if that spineless dick had something to do with her leaving me, there will be nothing stopping me from going after him.
