Getting Wet - It's Raining Men

"Do we want the baby drinking beer in the photo?" the set director asked Diana through his mic.

"That's orange juice!" Hawk said. "She just likes it in the Rolling Rock bottle."

The set director looked at Kestrel apologetically. "You never know when it comes to rock stars."

Finally, they placed Gloria to the left of Bob under the light from the window. She looked ethereal in her bold patterned dress and bright yellow heels.

Then they started the shoot, and we all stood in our positions. It was a flurry of clicks and lighting switches. I smiled at Hawk and mouthed, I love us, to him. He squeezed my hands back and looked at himself, and laughed. He was wearing his leather jacket over wet running shorts that were dripping onto the Persian rug.

"Trendsetting," I said.

"Showstopper," he said.

"That look is timeless," I told him.

"As in, not enough time to get dressed," he laughed. Question, best song ever written?"

"Genre?" I asked him.

"Any," he answered.

"Of Better Days, by Kestrel." It was currently number one on the country charts.

"Of better days, there are none. The rest of your life has just begun," Robby sang. The kid had a voice. I watched Diana's eyes round, her posture straightened, and she marched herself over to Kestrel and me.

"You two didn't tell me Robin could sing!" she accused us. "Have you made a demo?"

"In this family, we follow our dreams, Diana. And although Robin likes to sing, she has no desire to perform except for her family here at home," Kestrel told her. The smoke alarms started to go off again, and the set director sent one of the crew to disarm it.

"Robby, tell Diana what you want to do when you grow up," Hawk said.

"Fisher Captain, like Grandpa Bob," she said. Robin threw her floral crown in the fireplace and stepped off of the table. She walked over to her grandpa, who placed his hat on her tiny head.

Robin strutted back and climbed on the coffee table with more swagger this time. She put her hands on her hips and growled for the cameraman.

"I love us," Hawk told me, laughing.

"Good," I said. "I'm pregnant again."

The Rolling Stone cover came out the next month. The picture was hilarious and went viral, especially due to Captain Crazy and her jelly-covered smile. "America's Favorite Rock Family," the article was titled. The album went platinum, and we stayed madly in love.

The End
