Hold On to Me (Return to Haven 3)

Cash didn’t need any more invitation than that. He lifted her up in a fireman’s carry and stalked to the bathroom.

“I can walk, you know.”

“I’m working on those ways to hold you up.”

She smacked his ass, and he laughed as he reached into her glassed-in shower and turned on the water. Then he stepped in and eased her back to her feet.

“I’m still wearing clothes,” she squealed as the water pelted them.

And she looked every bit the fantasy he’d envisioned with her bra and panty set soaked to her creamy skin. Cash grabbed the condom from Jade’s hand and tore it op

en, then covered himself.

“Better get you out of those wet things,” he growled as he backed her into the corner. “Then I can hold you up properly.”

He grabbed the material at her waist and tore the panties away. Then he reached for that closure nestled between her breasts and flicked it open. Jade shrugged out of her bra and it fell to the wet tile of the shower floor.

Cash gripped her hips and lifted her against the wall, stepping into her as she wrapped her legs around his waist.

“Getting right to the action?” she asked, her tone mocking.

“Red, we’ve danced around each other long enough and we both know what this is and what it isn’t.”

She gripped his shoulders and rocked her hips. That naughty smile and the gleam in her eye was more than he could take and he was done waiting. Nearly two days without her was long enough. There was an ache, a need in him that only Jade could fill.

Cash joined their bodies, eliciting a low moan from her. She tipped back her head and arched her body against his as he braced his hands on either side of her head. The hot spray peppering his back felt good, but nothing like being with Jade once again.

He raked his tongue up the column of her throat and nipped at her chin until she brought her lips to meet his. Cash gripped the back of her thigh with one hand while keeping the other by her head. He simply couldn’t get enough, and if he thought Nashville had been amazing, it was nothing compared to now.

The whimpers that escaped Jade had his body tightening and nearly ready for release. No woman had ever been so potent and so addictive. Jade knew what she was doing, knew the power she held over him, and damn it, he was letting this happen.

Cash tore his mouth away and pressed his forehead to hers as her body quickened. Those whimpers became louder, longer, and a moment later, her body tightened and arched.

This was why he couldn’t quit Jade. This right here, the passion, the abandonment of anything but her pleasure. She became a completely different person, and one he wanted to spend more time with.

Before he could get too carried away with such ridiculous notions, Cash felt that coil of anticipation a moment before he joined Jade in falling over the edge. He gritted his teeth and started to close his eyes but caught her watching him as he let the climax slam through him. Perhaps she enjoyed the show as much as he did.

Cash forced himself to keep his gaze on hers as his body started to calm. He blew out a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. Jade smiled and reached up to swipe above his brow.

“We didn’t get very clean.”

As tired as he was, as amazing as that had just been, he wasn’t too far from needing another round with her.

“Then maybe we should try again,” he stated, then covered her mouth with his.

Jade responded by tightening her ankles behind his back, her knees digging into his sides.

When he eased from the kiss, her lids fluttered open and those eyes locked him in place. Water droplets formed on the tips of her lashes, her red hair seemed so much darker now that it was wet and plastered down. Even with her makeup smeared, her hair a mess, and a little drunk haze to her eyes, Cash couldn’t recall a time she’d looked more beautiful . . . or more his type.

Damn it, though. She wasn’t his type. Just because their bodies were compatible didn’t mean anything beyond that. He didn’t need or want a relationship and, clearly, neither did she. Sex was great, their sex was off the charts, so why screw it up thinking of anything beyond what they had right here?

“Someone is thinking too hard,” she murmured. “Maybe I should wash all this grease off you to take your mind off your troubles.”

Yeah, maybe she should. Then he could focus on having a wet, naked woman at his command instead of wondering why he still hated that kernel of disappointment at the idea that she didn’t want anyone to know they’d been together.

The second Jade dropped her legs and reached for the soap, Cash’s thoughts vanished. Nothing and no one existed outside this shower, this moment.
