The Secrets That Find Us (The Devils Dust MC Legacy)

I notice blood glistening on the tip and I look away. I’m no longer a virgin. It wasn’t awful like some stories I’ve heard from other girl’s first time, but it was quick. I mean, I wanted this. I knew what I was doing when I climbed into this truck, I guess just knowing that I gave Thane something I will never get back is hitting my chest a little harder than I thought it would.

“You okay?” he asks, interrupting my thoughts of continuous rambling. “I didn’t get too rough, did I?”

I stifle a humorous laugh. “Yeah. I’ll be fine.” It’s not like we went for hours on end, big boy. I guess I’m a little sore though, but nothing that won’t be gone by tomorrow. I open my mouth to cover my bad attitude, but a blinding light flashes through the driver’s side window causing me to jump back and shield my eyes.

Fuck, the cops!

“Delilah!”

My heart stops, and my eyes widen with fear. It’s not the cops, it’s my dad!

His voice cuts right through me and I can’t help but be scared. Not for me, but Thane.

“Oh fuck!” I panic, pulling my ruffled shirt down and brushing my just-fucked-hair out of my face.

The driver’s door is suddenly swung open and there he is, my dad. His dark hair in his eyes, his sharp jaw clenched and angry. He points at Thane, and I instantly yell, “Run!” But it’s too late, my dad throws the flashlight to the ground and lurches forward, grabbing Thane by the neck with one hand.

“Dad, stop this!” I scream, now standing in the seat. Thane is dragged from the truck, his hands flying for something to grab on to but to no avail, he’s tossed onto the ground like many of the empty beer cans lying around.

“Leave him alone!” I scream at my dad, demanding him to stop this. I’m ignored, so I jump out of the truck to try and stop the fight.

Dad kicks Thane in the ribs, the loud crack of his boot against bone making my teeth clench.

“It was my idea! Now stop!” I grab on to my father, pulling at his arm and jerking him away from Thane.

“Whoa there, little sister.” My head jerks to the left just as Zane, my brother, scoops me up in his arms and takes me away from the scene.

“Put me the fuck down, now!” My voice drips with venom so fierce that it has Zane stop and let me down for a second. He looks at me like he wants to talk to me but he doesn’t have a chance to.

Dad senses Zane let me go and his head snaps to the side, his sharp eyes glaring like a wild animal in the night.

“Get her in the car now, Zane!” he demands like he’s telling one of the motorcycle club members an order.

“No!” I swing at Zane, my fist hitting him in the side of the head, but it doesn’t faze him. He throws me over his shoulder so I can’t hit him in the face again and stomps away.

“You fucking daddy’s boy, put me down!” I scream, slapping him on the back as hard as I can.

He doesn’t respond.

My body bobs and weaves on top of Zane’s shoulder, and all I can do is watch my dad throw Thane up against his truck and get in his face. He’s shouting something, but I can’t hear what it is, probably a threat.

I hear a clicking sound of a door opening, and then I’m tossed into the back seat of my mom’s car, then the door is slammed shut. Climbing to my knees, I grab the handle to get out and help Thane, but it’s locked. What the...? They put the fucking child locks on! I slap the glass.

“Let me the fuck out, Zane!”

Ignoring me, he shakes his head, and he slips into the passenger side right in front of me.

“Do you always do what Daddy tells you?” I sneer, my eyes staring into the back of his head with so much anger I have to curl my fingers into my fists to keep from pulling his hair from this fucking scalp.

He doesn’t answer, which pisses me off more and I punch the back of the seat.

“This is bullshit!” I shout through clenched teeth. This is so unfair!

“Shut the fuck up, D!” Zane finally barks, and I sit back into the seat, shaking my head.

This is so fucked up. How could they do this, everyone that is here is staring out their windows, or worse, standing outside watching my dad and Thane. Everyone at school is going to know about what happened tonight.

I’ve heard of over-protective fathers, I get it. But Because of Zane and my dad… I don’t even have a life. I live in their shadow and am watched over all the time.
