What they didn’t know is that that’s my forte. I can’t help it; I always expect the worse, so in my mind this makes perfect sense.

They were the perfect couple after all. Both Hollywood royalty, both picture perfect and obscenely wealthy. They’d probably have beautiful kids together.

The thought almost made me sick. Why would he do it though, and how? One part of me wanted to deny, deny, deny. But regardless of what the girls had said, the evidence proved otherwise.

I worked myself into a fit. First I was going to toss the ring anyway, but then I thought of my dad having to replace it and that left me cold.

I wanted to run home and hide out in my room, but if I did that mom would ask a million questions, and I wasn’t ready to answer.

I think I’d already accepted the demise of our short-lived relationship, and by the third time someone mentioned that awful picture in my presence I had gone over the edge. I’ll show Jace Saunders and his hatchet faced girlfriend that I didn’t care about them, or their little games.

Chapter 9

JACE

I’ve been having the day from hell, so the last thing I needed was for my girl to be acting the fuck out.

She hadn’t returned any of my calls, not even when she was on break, and now she had just walked right by me like she hadn’t seen me.

I knew some shit was up, because there was a buzz in the air. I didn’t need this shit on the heels of what the fuck had happened to my car last night.

I had a pretty good idea who had keyed my shit but I wasn’t about to accuse anyone without evidence; besides I had more pressing shit to deal with.

No doubt Sian’s new attitude had something to do with the cold war going on between her and Mandy.

Had she done as I said, she wouldn’t be involved. I knew Mandy was dying for my attention, that she was doing all this shit to get it, that’s why I’m not giving it to her, not in the way she’d like anyway.

I asked Sian to leave it to me, not because I don’t think she can handle herself, but because she shouldn’t have to.

What she doesn’t get is that the fiancée of Jace Saunders is above that shit. Mandy knows and it scares the shit out of her.

You see Sian is now in the position to take over everything Mandy has been working so hard for.

Eden High isn’t just a high school. It’s a place where futures are formed, where deals are made and broken everyday between the powerful men and women who run the entertainment industry.

The boys and girls who attend this school are the heirs to the Hollywood kingdom, and as the leader of the pack my girl and I are in essence the future of Hollywood society.

Meaning in a few years she’d be doing what mom now does. Hopefully after many years of me playing in the pros.

Seems strange to think of a teenager having that kind of power, but there you have it.

But only an insider would know the ins and outs of our world, and the behind the scenes politics involved.

Something I’m sure Sian has no knowledge of, and what I’m not going to share with her anytime soon.

Now I’m watching her as she sashays past me on her way to the field. I’d only just made it to school after taking my car in to be taken care of, so I had no idea what the fuck had set her off, but I was pretty sure it had to be Mandy, it was always fucking Mandy.

What the fuck is she doing? Everyone except her was looking in my direction, even her girls were looking a little green, as they very well should, since they knew me, and knew that their friend was about to land her ass in a whole heap of trouble.

I watched to see what she was going to do, watched as guys flocked around her and she smiled and batted her lashes at them.

“What the fuck?” She was laughing and outright flirting right in front of me.

“Jace...” I felt a hand latch onto my shoulder holding me back as I started forward. I looked over that shoulder at a very worried looking Jared.

“Don’t worry, I’m not going to break her fucking neck, yet. First I’m going to find out why the fuck she’s lost her mind.”

“I think it has something to do with the rumors Mandy started...’

“Let her tell me.” I walked over to where my little temptress was working her wiles on the poor unsuspecting assholes that had no idea their lives were in danger.

Even if she wasn’t aware of the danger, they should’ve been, how fucking long have they known me? They should know better than to flirt with my woman.

And why the fuck did she have to pick Stanley as one of her conquests? Typical female, she probably learned about his one sided feud and was using him to burn me.

Whatever the fuck Mandy did this time must be a doozy. Ms. Sian was laying it on pretty thick by the time I reached her side.

I should tan her ass for this shit.

“Hey come ‘ere.” I grabbed her hand and pulled her away from the group of boys she’d been flirting with.

“Hey what do you think you’re...?” she tried pulling out of my hand.

“Not one more fucking word.” I pointed my finger at her face. Her mouth fell open in shock, but I ignored her ass and dragged her to the parking lot and over to my truck.

I caged her in between the passenger side door and me.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?”

“I don’t have to answer to you, you jerk.” I grabbed her face, not too hard because I love the little bitch to death, but she’s a pain in the ass.

“Don’t fucking push it.”

“I’ll push it as far as I want, you lying cheating asshole.
