“Okay, okay…so what the hell do you want to do. Confer on the questions? You guys are really taking the fun out of this process,” Harris huffs.

“Maybe not confer, but we should definitely ask questions on rotation.”

“Jeez.” I shake my head, the speed of their conversation blowing my orgasm-addled brain. “In a minute, your time is going to run out.”

“There isn’t a time limit,” Harris says.

“Err…yes there is.” I nod my head, raising my eyebrows to appear apologetic. “You think you get to make up all the rules?”

“Good point,” Kane says.

“Okay…what’s your naughtiest fantasy?” Harris blurts.

“Shit,” Holden says, shaking his head. “That’s a good one.”

I reach out to swat Harris’s shoulder. “You told me you wanted to ask questions to get to know me when really all you want to know is sex stuff.”

“Let’s get the important things out of the way. I already know how to make your coffee in the morning and what music to play after we’ve fucked. Now I want to know how to blow your mind so hard that no other man is ever going to come close.”

“Okay,” I laugh. “You make some good points. It’s this…” I wave my hands to indicate all of them. “Being with you guys.”

“Not enough,” Harris says. “I know there’s more.”

“More?” My mind skitters over fantasies that I’ve never opened up about. Fantasies that make my skin heat.

“See. Look. She’s blushing.” Harris points at my flushed cheeks triumphantly.

“I never thought I’d see that day that Connie blushed,” Kane says.

“What’s going on in that pretty head of yours?” Holden asks.

“Filthy shit, that’s what,” Karter says.

“Hey.” I hold my hand up to stop them from continuing the confusingly fast back-and-forth. “I’ve thought of a new rule to this game.”

Holden frowns and rubs at his stubbly chin. “No new rules can be added once play has started.”

“Says who? This game only got made up five minutes ago. I think there is still time to make some modifications to how it’s implemented.”

“Okay…I’m not saying the rule will be allowed, but what is it?” Holden says.

“I want to be able to veto at least one question a day.”

“No veto,” Harris says. “But we will allow a deferral. You might need to think about an answer in more detail.”

“You gave in to that one too quick,” Holden says. “You’re terrible at negotiation.”

“Winning a negotiation isn’t about just getting what you want. It’s about reaching an acceptable outcome for both parties. Didn’t anyone ever teach you that? Or did you miss that lesson?”

Holden snorts. “Okay. A deferral will be allowed once a day. Are you saying you want to defer this question?”

“Yes,” I say quickly. “There will be a better time, later, for me to reveal the answer.” I can’t imagine telling them what I really think about when I’m alone, but maybe, with a few drinks, when we’re all naked, it won’t seem so scary.

“Okay. Deferred, but you have to answer by midnight.” Holden looks triumphant at thinking of a way to add another rule to the game. “Who’s asking the next question?”

“Me,” Kane says. “I want to know why you broke up with your last boyfriend.”

That’s not a hard answer for me to come up with, but it’s not something I would have disclosed if I had a choice. Of course, I do still have a choice. I can choose to be an asshole and say I don’t want to play anymore, but I’m not going to do that. “He made me feel bad about myself. The way I laughed was too loud. The way I did my hair wasn’t feminine enough. The way I dressed wasn’t sexy enough. The way I made my coffee was ridiculous.” I add in the last point because I want Harris to realize that even joking about something can touch a nerve that you might not expect in another person.

His eyes blink shut slowly, realizing that I’m referring to something that he just did, hitting home the way I intended. “He sounds like an idiot,” Kane says.

“He grew up in a family where everything was always negative. Everything was a competition. Everything was a battle. In truth, he did what he saw around him, and no one else had ever called him out on his behavior. He told me he was sorry, but I knew that he wasn’t going to be able to change. You can’t teach old dogs new tricks. Some stuff is just too ingrained.”

“That is very true,” Karter says.

“Okay…I’m starting to like this game,” Holden says, getting closer. “Time to earn another two questions.”

I put my hands out, warning him off. “Hell no,” I say. At that moment, I realize that these boys have a competitive nature that might be too much for me to handle!

I manage to convince the boys that another public ocean orgasm is just a step too far for me. Making our way out of the sea, we crash on the sunbeds to dry off. “This beach is just the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen,” Karter says.
