“Still a newlywed,” Ethan said, grinning at his sibling, not wanting Ian Dare to worry about anything when it came to KTT’s handling of this deal. “I wouldn’t ask you to do that,” he reassured Sebastian.

But he wasn’t going to send just anyone to oversee such an important project. He’d already found out what happened when he wasn’t hands-on.

“So what do you suggest?” Sebastian asked. “Parker has moved to Colorado to run his new ski shops. Who else can we trust?”

“I’ll do it. I’ll stay in Miami for the duration of our role in the construction,” Ethan said.

Beside him, Sienna sucked in a startled gasp.

Unaware of the undercurrents or implications of Ethan’s decision for Sienna, Ian nodded, relief in his gaze.

“But” – Sebastian glanced at Ethan – “the office…”

“It’s not like I can’t run the business from here, and you’re in New York for anything that comes up there. It’s decided,” he said, folding his arms across his chest.

Without looking directly at Sienna, he was still aware of her shock at his declaration. He felt the same damned way. He couldn’t be around her without wanting her. He didn’t know how he’d be in Miami and stay away.

“As long as that’s decided, let’s go take a look at the new stadium,” Ian said. “Are you ladies coming?” he asked Olivia and Sienna.

“I’ll join you,” Olivia said. “I haven’t been over in a while.”

“Sienna?” Ian asked.

She drew a deep breath. “Actually I wasn’t feeling well this morning. I think I’m going to take the rest of the day off, if you don’t mind.”

“Of course I don’t mind. Go on home and feel better,” Ian said.

She said her goodbyes and walked out.

Ethan was unable to tear his gaze from her ass as she left the room, his gaze narrowed at her abrupt departure. If she hadn’t been pale when she walked in, Ethan would think she was avoiding him.

“Before we go over to the stadium, can we have a word?” Sebastian asked him.

“I need to talk to a few people, so take your time.” Ian strode off, Olivia walking alongside him.

Sebastian grabbed his arm and pulled him to the side, where they could talk alone. “What’s going on with you?”

“What do you mean?” Ethan thought he’d kept it together pretty damned well considering all he’d wanted was to be alone with Sienna.

“It was fucking wonderful? That’s how you refer to spending the weekend with our biggest client’s sister?” Sebastian sounded horrified.

“It was better than saying we spent the weekend fucking,” he muttered and his brother’s gaze went wide.

“Jesus Christ, you didn’t?” Sebastian looked Ethan in the eye. “You did. Son of a bitch. What were you thinking?”

“Clearly I wasn’t.” Not with the right head, anyway.

“So that’s what’s been on your mind. Why you can’t concentrate on business.” Sebastian glanced across the room.

Ethan did the same and caught sight of Ian talking to one of the players.

“And you’re sure you want to stay here and oversee this project? Or is she the reason you’re willing to do it?” Sebastian asked, his tone low.

“One of us needs to be here and it makes sense that it’s me. Can we let the rest go for now?” He wasn’t ready to think about why he was so willing to find himself in Miami for the next couple of months.

Not when he already knew the answer.

Chapter Five

Sienna spent the weekend doing ordinary things in a state of disbelief. She cleaned her apartment, folded her laundry, went grocery shopping … all the while knowing that Ethan was back in New York, getting himself settled so he could be in Miami tonight or tomorrow morning. And somehow, Ian had gotten it into his head that Sienna and her fan-experience app and ideas meant she had to work with him while he was in town overseeing his part in the stadium project.

Ian had no idea what he was asking of her. It had been hard enough being in the same room with Ethan, pretending they were mere acquaintances, when she’d felt him inside her body. When she wanted him to take her again. Feelings that she didn’t get the notion, during the brief time she’d been with Ethan in the conference room, were reciprocated. He’d been cool and aloof. Very much the man in charge, and he’d sounded like his time with her had been nothing but a chore.

She ran a hand along her damp neck. The temperature had soared to one hundred and two degrees outside, and the sun was baking through the window, so the air conditioning pumping away in her small apartment unit wasn’t cooling her off as much as she would have liked. At this point she was wearing a pair of boy shorts and matching sports bra without a top because it was that hot. She pulled her hair into a high, messy bun and settled on the couch. Tonight was a pizza night, no cooking or turning on the oven and making this place even warmer.
