Starboard (Anchored 1)
I giggle as he lists so many things about me that are true, and I think of so many special moments we’ve shared in the time we’ve been together.
“Christina, the second part of my question is whether you’ll let me make you as happy as you make me. Will you marry me, Christina? Will you let me be your protector? Will you let me take care of you? Will you let me have the honor of calling you my wife?”
He looks at me with stars in his eyes, with big dreams in his heart, and I can’t say anything but yes.
I can’t say anything but yes because I’m being given a second chance at love, a second chance at happiness, and there’s no one I’d rather share that with than Zack.
He slides a ring on my finger and moves swiftly to his feet. He kisses me hard, passionately, deeply.
“I love you,” I whisper.
“I love you, princess.”
Then Zack gets the box from the bed and while I’m admiring the ring on my finger, he places the silver collar around my neck.
“You can wear it in the club,” he says, “but it looks enough like a necklace that if you want to wear it other places, you can.”
“I don’t ever want to take it off,” I tell him honestly, running my fingers over the chain. “It’s beautiful, Zack. It’s perfect.”
“I will love you for the rest of my life, Christina. You make me the happiest man in the world, and I’m proud to be with you.”
My heart soars as my dreams come true. Zack and I are getting what so many people only imagine. We’re getting a happily ever after, and we’re getting it together, and nothing could be better. I could never ask for more.
