Build a Baby (A Billionaire Secret Baby Romance)`
“Okay, go sit while I cook,” she says, shooing me out of the room. I find that kind of amusing.
Sitting in the living room to wait, I turn on the news but listen while she empties the bags. Soon I hear the sounds of pots and pans. Next, I listen to dishes being placed on the table. Soon Mia is ladling food into the plates.
“Okay. It's ready!” she calls out.
Nervously, we sit at the table together. Steam is rising from the freshly cooked pasta. It smells so good, like a fancy restaurant. I'm impressed. This girl must be a master in the kitchen. I take a bite and am blown away. It has been a long time since I have had a home-cooked meal. I forgot how good fresh food like this can taste.
“Wow, this is incredible, Mia,” I compliment her. She smiles politely at me then goes back to eating.
She eats her food with a serious expression. I decided to lighten the mood since I want to help her be happy. “I wasn't expecting a college girl to know how to cook meatballs with spaghetti so well,” I joke.
Mia laughs a little. “College girl?” She looks me directly in the eye.
Ken’s daughter cannot be more than twenty. Her face is a bit round, with sharp cheekbones. She probably could be a model. But, with that intensity in her eyes, she is hard to ignore.
I smile, break her gaze, and take another bite of food, enjoying it.
“This was nothing. We needed something quick,” Mia explains, shaking her head. She is confident in her abilities. After another taste of food, she continues, “I'll make you something special tomorrow that you'll really like.”
I hurry to finish my mouthful of food. “Well, I can't wait. Nothing beats a home-cooked meal,” I reply.
We both smile at each other and enjoy eating our food. I'm glad that Mia seems in a better mood for right now. I don't want to see her going down the same depressing road as Ken.
Plus, the idea of having another delicious meal tomorrow also appeals to me. I'm almost done with my plate, and I feel like my stomach is huge. Where did she learn to cook like this?
I look at her, and she smiles at me again. It sends tingles through my body. Tingles I try to ignore.
Chapter Five - Isaac
The following two days are pretty relaxed. Mia and I are getting along great, and the girl seems to be adjusting to the divorce situation well. Maybe a break from her parents is just what she needed.
The truth is, I kind of like that she is staying with me. I never realized how empty the rental place felt before. Mia is always around—fiddling in the kitchen, doing laundry, or even just watching TV.
Our paths often cross in the morning when I’m getting ready to leave for work on her old house. Today, we ran into each other in the hallway.
“Good morning! I left you some coffee,” Mia says in greeting. Her face is glowing, freshly washed, and her hair is a little wet. She must have recently gotten out of the shower. Flashes of her nude body, wet and sudsy, fill my mind.
“Hi. That sounds good. Thanks,” I reply.
We both smile at each other and stand there a second.
“Okay, well, don't work too hard,” Mia jokes. She walks past me and goes into the bathroom. I can hear the door close quietly.
I stand there and try to clear my head, then walk into the kitchen and stare at the coffee pot. I’ll leave the coffee for her. I can get something later.
Going back to my room, I finish getting ready. Afterward, I walk out into the living room. Mia is sitting on the couch.
“Have a good day!” she says pleasantly, giving me the biggest grin.
I look at her, enjoying how her lips look when she’s happy—so full and pink. “You, too. I'll be back later,” I reply.
“I hope so. It's your house,” she jokes. We laugh.
I give her a little wave and walk out the door. It's a nice day. The weather is warm and sunny with a slight breeze. It's a good day for work. I get into the car and drive away with the windows rolled down.
I'm relieved to be going to work today. I needed to get out of the rental home for a while. These past two days have been intriguing and not in a good way. I'm glad that I was able to help Mia out and invited her to stay with me, but I’ve noticed something. It’s in the way the room feels whenever we’re together or the way we look at each other. When I hear us joking and laughing together, it’s like I’m observing outside of my body, and I know I’m in for trouble. Whenever we are together, the air becomes filled with so much sexual tension that I can't breathe, and I need to leave.
