Stanton Box Set
“Tell me about it,” I stammer as I feel a hand snake around my waist from behind. Nicholas leans into my ear. “Hello,” he smiles.
I smile warmly over my shoulder. “Hello.”
Cameron’s eyes light up. “Hello, Nick, nice to see you.” They shake ha
nds. I put my hand out and he smiles at me and then leans in and kisses my cheek. ‘I don’t think so,” he whispers into my ear.
I swallow uncomfortably and step back as my eyes drop to the perfect specimen before me, tall and dark in full naval whites. I feel myself harden.
His eyes drop down my body as he takes a sip of his drink and he licks his bottom lip seductively. “I like your outfit,” he smirks.
I smile nervously as my eyes flick to Cameron who smiles into his drink. “Thanks.” My heart rate just picked up by thirty beats per second. Why does he make me feel like this?
“Are you having a good time?” he asks.
“Amazing,” Cameron answers. “How many years have you been doing this event?”
He and Cameron start to talk but I can’t concentrate on the conversation. Every one of my senses is standing to attention. I have never had such a physical reaction to any person before and it’s very unsettling. He’s taller than me and lean but it’s his intelligence and confidence that arrests me and holds me captive. I’m so nervous I feel like I can’t breathe.
Nicholas’s eyes flick intermittently to me as he talks to Cameron. What’s he thinking? I really should be joining in the conversation but I can’t even talk. This is ridiculous. As he continues to talk to Cameron he puts his hand out and gently runs it up and down my arm. Cameron’s eyes meet mine as he smirks at me. Fuck, Nicholas is a confident bastard.
His hand finds the bottom of my arm and he links our hands. “Can I steal you for a moment?” he asks.
Cameron smiles. “I’m going to the bar. He’s all yours.” He walks off.
He smiles broadly at me. “All mine hey?” His eyes drop to my lips. “I like the sound of that.”
I swallow nervously.
“Come, I want to show you something.” He pulls me by the hand through the crowd and I reluctantly follow. I can feel the gaze of people on my back as we get to a door which he opens. As he ushers me into a staircase and starts to walk up it, the door opens behind me and my two security guards walk in. Nicholas turns to them annoyed. “Can we have some privacy please?” he asks me with a raised eyebrow.
I frown. “Umm.” I turn to the boys and wince.
“Where are you going?” one of my guards asks him.
“To the roof,” he answers flatly, obviously annoyed.
“We will search the roof and then you can go,” the guard replies as I swallow uncomfortably again.
They head up the stairs to the roof and Nicholas and I stand still on the steps.
“Is this normal?” he snaps as he fiddles with my fingers in his hand.
I nod. “Yes unfortunately,” I reply quietly.
He shakes his head in frustration. “I think you are safe here.”
“Maybe I’m in more danger now than ever,” I breathe as my eyes search his.
He smirks sexily at the double meaning. “Maybe you are.” He runs his hand over my chest and goosebumps cover my flesh as his touch puts me on fire. His dark eyes hold mine.
“Clear,” we hear from the top of the stairs and the moment is broken. I pull my eyes from his gaze. He grabs my hand again and we walk up the stairs where we arrive to a rooftop terrace with a garden. Fairy lights hang strung in a zigzag across the top from poles and large timber benches scatter the space.
“This is nice.” I smile as I look around.
He smiles warmly as he runs his hand down my face. “Like you.”
I smile. “I’m really not that nice.”
