He was being possessive. My version of sexual kryptonite. I liked the feeling of someone wanting me so badly they couldn’t control it, and now that I’d given Cam an inch, I was so ready for him to take a mile.

“I’m glad I got rid of the damn pillow,” I said, almost growling into his ear.

“Fuck,” he whispered, turning over in my arms in one quick movement.

Soon, my whole world was full of him. He didn’t waste a second, pushing me onto my back and straddling me, dipping to crush his lips against mine. He kissed me without hesitation, like he’d finally given himself permission.

And it turned out Cam could be wild when he let himself.

“You are full of surprises, aren’t you?” I said against his lips before he claimed my mouth with his again, kissing me deeper.

“You said I could have you if I still wanted to tomorrow. This does technically count as tomorrow,” he said before taking my lower lip between his teeth, pulling gently.

My cock ached between my legs. “It does,” I said.

He bucked his hips against me, pressing his own erection up against mine, gyrating slowly and deliberately as if he were fucking me. I reached behind him and got a handful of each of his ass cheeks, squeezing hard before pulling back and giving it a smack.

“God, I wanted you so fucking badly,” he uttered, moving his mouth lower, dragging his lips across the skin of my neck.

“Want to know a secret?” I said.

“Tell me.”

“I was hoping like hell you were a liar when you said you wouldn’t try anything.”

“Oh yeah?” he asked, teasing in his voice. “So you lied to me, then? About not wanting me.”

“Oh, believe me, I wanted you,” I said. “I just knew it was a bad idea.”

“Still is.”

“Very.”

His hands skated up underneath my T-shirt, his fingers chilly against my hot skin. I’d thrown off my flannel earlier, and now I pushed upward, pulling off my shirt and tossing it to the side.

“Christ, you’ve got a lot of tattoos,” he said, his fingertips tracing over my skin.

“Let me guess,” I said. “You have none?”

“I’m too chickenshit to ever decide on one,” he said. “They’re so beautiful. How do you know, when one is right?”

“I don’t ever know,” I said. “I just go with my gut. And I haven’t regretted anything since.”

“I wish I was like you,” he said, staring down at me.

The way Cam looked at me was really what threw me off the most. He barely knew me, but he treated me like I somehow had everything figured out. If only he knew how wrong he was.

I second guessed everything. I never knew if I was doing the right or wrong thing in my life. But unlike Cam, my solution was just to go.

I was always going. Doing something. Distracting myself. Where Cam seemed to like routines and regularity, I craved a spontaneous life.

Which is how I’d ended up like this, with him straddling me, my dick so hard for him it almost hurt.

“You don’t wish you were like me,” I said. “But I appreciate the compliment. Now take your shirt off.”

He hummed, obliging me. He pulled off his shirt, revealing milky soft skin in the low light. He was slim but fit, just as I’d expected. He looked like the kind of guy who had spent a regular three to four days a week in the gym for his whole life, and I knew it was probably the truth. Of course Cam took care of his body. It seemed like he tried to take care of everything in his life, carefully and consistently.

He pulled in a shaky breath, looking down at me again, his eyes wide as hell.

“Oh God,” he said quietly.

“You okay?”

“A little nervous,” he said. “Suddenly. Out of nowhere. For no goddamn reason.”

“No reason?” I said, reaching up and pulling him back down on top of me, catching his lips in a soft kiss. I held either side of his face in my hands, kissing him slowly, taking my time. “It’d be weirder if you weren’t nervous. You know?”

He nodded. “Right.”

I brushed my cheek against his, enjoying just how close our faces were. “Lay down on your back.”

I kept my hands on the top of his chest as he lay back onto the mattress, his body on display. I kissed him slowly on his chest, moving from side to side. I didn’t know how it was possible that someone could still smell so fresh, even after sitting in a bar and being in a tent all night. He may as well have been some sort of mythical creature, angelic and needy and completely irresistible.

As I moved, I could feel him relaxing, breathing more evenly.

“Just lie here with me for a bit, okay?” I asked.

“Okay.”

I knew he was probably completely tied up in his head right now. I’d been there before, countless times. It didn’t matter how much you wanted something. If you were caught up in your thoughts, there was nothing that could break you out of it other than time.
