Seducing Her Best Friend

“Thank fuck for that!” Rosie’s heartfelt exclamation made me giggle.

“Though I’ll have to be your kept woman for a while. I have no idea what I’ll do for a job, you know.”

Rosie kissed my nose and shrugged.

“Ah, well there’s a job going for a waitress at the bar. My boss mentioned putting an advert up only the other day. You haven’t got any experience, but if I vouch for you I dare say the job is yours, if you want it that is.”

I knew I had a shit eating grin on my face right now.

“Hell, yeah, that would be grand. I get to work and live with you, too?”

Rosie laughed and rolled her eyes.

“Yeah, you might get sick of the sight of me.”

“Never.” I was quick to reassure her. “We’ve missed out on so much time. I want to spend every wakin

g moment with you. You’ll probably get fed up with me.”

“Don’t be daft, but I mean it. I don’t expect you to stay a waitress. It will do until you figure out what you really want to do, however.”

I nodded, my mind whirling with the possibilities. Freedom at last, true freedom to be who I wanted to be, who I needed to be, and it was all due to the amazing woman in front of me.

“When did I get to be so lucky?”

I slapped Rosie’s ass playfully and pulled her along to the bathroom.

“Now show me how us girls can make love in the shower. I get the feeling we’ll be in there a very long time indeed. This chocolate is everywhere.”

Rosie laughed and proceeded to do just that. By the time we managed to get back into bed, the sun was streaming in through the windows.

Despite being bone tired I couldn’t sleep and spent ages watching Rosie’s slight chest fall and rise with her even breaths.

She didn’t know it yet, but I wasn’t completely useless. Once the ruckus about my broken engagement and my coming out had died down I would use some of my connections to ensure Rosie’s artwork would get the recognition it deserved. Her sculptures were everywhere on the boat, and one thing I did know a lot about was art. Hers were exquisite, and once shown properly to the world, folks would pay handsomely for them, of that I was certain.

I finally fell asleep with the beginning of a plan in my mind.

Epilogue

Twelve months later

Sam

I wasn’t jealous, I told myself. Such emotion was beneath me, as I walked around the gallery, and observed the crowd of fashionable people there to admire Rosie’s work. I’d always known she would make it big one day. All she’d needed was for someone to take notice.

The day Tirath had breezed back into her life and our bar everything had changed for the better, even it had meant that I had lost one of the best coworkers ever.

Still, I couldn’t begrudge those two their happiness. As I swiped a flute of champagne of a passing waiter I nodded toward the happy couple. They’d made it official only this morning in a quiet registry office wedding that had me swallowing down tears.

How I wanted that. To have one man devoted to me and to each other.

I’d never say it out loud, but seeing Rosie and Tirath make it work gave me hope for Hunter and me.

As though I’d conjured my old rugby mate up, he suddenly filled my vision and my chest tightened in emotion.

Damn, he scrubbed up well. More used to seeing him in sports gear than the tux he was now wearing my mouth went dry. The fine linen accentuated his broad shoulders, and my ever-unruly cock twitched in need.

Down, boy, now is not the time.
