Gesturing one hand toward the bar, she smirked and wandered back into the kitchen to complete dinner.

Twenty-Five minutes later, they sat down to eat. Deacon looked at the plate and said, “This looks great.”

Taking the first bite of his steak, he said, “That’s really good.”

Pleased he appreciated her efforts, she said, “Glad you like it.”

Reaching over he put his hand on her knee, squeezing it, and said, “You really don’t have to cook for me.”

Laughing she said, “I know I don’t have to. I wanted to.”

They finished the rest of the meal in relative silence. Deacon got up and put their plates in the dishwasher, then started to clean up the kitchen.

“You cooked. The least I can do is clean up.”

“Oh, I won’t argue with that,” she said, pointing to the cupboard next to the refrigerator. “My storage containers are in that cabinet.”

Putting the leftovers into a container, Deacon finished loading the dishwasher, then moved back over to where Sara sat and said, “Thank you for the phenomenal meal.”

“You’re welcome. Thank you for cleaning up. What do you want to do now? We could go somewhere. Just hang out here.”

Pulling her into his arms, he said, “Let’s hang out here.”

“There’s a Legion game tonight, if you want to watch.”

Blinking, he said, “You like football?”

“Yeah. I used to have season tickets until work got so crazy I was giving them away most of the time.”

Twenty minutes later they were curled up together on the sofa, watching the game and having another glass of wine. Smitty had already hopped up and head butted Deacon a couple times then curled up against his other side.

Watching him absently scratch Smitty’s ears, Sara smiled.

“I’m really surprised. You must be some kind of cat whisperer. Smitty hates people that aren’t me. Hell, sometimes I think he hates me, too.”

Deacon smirked.

“What can I say? I’m likeable.”

Relaxing even further, she laid her head back against his chest. Feeling the light brush of his lips over her hair, she squeezed his thigh lightly then twisted to brush her lips against his.

Deacon shifted, tilting up her face, then nipped at her lips. With a sigh, Sara opened her mouth and traced the seam of his lips with her tongue. Angling his head further, Deacon deepened the kiss.

Deciding there wasn’t enough contact, Sara shifted until she was partially facing him, halfway in his lap and twined her arms around his neck. Continuing to move his mouth softly against hers, their tongues twining, he picked her up off the couch and adjusted her so she was straddling his lap. Her dress now hiked up indecently, she shivered as he ran his hands up her thighs to grab on to her ass.

Sara rolled her hips against Deacon’s burgeoning erection. Breaking away from his mouth for a moment, she drew in a sharp breath as a wave of pleasure ran through her body. Feeling her sharp intake of breath, he slid his hands up her thighs, under her dress.

Continuing to roll her hips against his now-obvious arousal, she moaned in appreciation when she felt his warm hands on her flesh. Tearing his mouth from hers, he kissed his way across her jaw and nipped on her earlobe.

Sensation slammed through Sara’s system. Probably feeling her vivid response, Deacon continued to nip her earlobe, his warm breath causing her to shiver.

Goose bumps running up and down her arms, she tilted her head, giving him full access to her neck.

Moving down her neck, he deliberately dragged his teeth, slowing the pace. He rolled his hips up to meet hers.

When they broke apart to breathe, he leaned his head against the couch and said, “I can’t get enough of you.”

He asked, “Should we take this to your bedroom?”
