It's Only Love (The Matthews Family)
As I laid there, holding my best friend I thought that no matter what you call it, I am enjoying each and every minute that I get to spend with her. So this morning when Natasha told me that she was going to volunteer at a senior citizen center and asked me if I wanted to come along, I was all for it.
For the first half hour, I was a little uptight, so I stayed with Natasha while she went around and saw the people she usually saw while she was there. Her peeps. Anyway, we had just come out of somebody’s room when I heard an old song that sounded familiar to me.
Morning, noon and night time too; All I do the whole day thru, is dream of you.
“I’ll be right back,” I said to Natasha and started walking toward the sound.
I walked in the day room and I saw a lady sitting alone watching television. As I got closer I could see what she was watching and I was a little boy again. Sitting on the floor at my grandmother’s foot watching old movies.
The name of the song was All I Do is Think of You and Debbie Reynolds was singing and dancing.
“Do you mind if I sit down?”
She looked up at me quickly like I was bothering her and nodded her head. I sat down thinking that she even looked a little like my grandmother.
“Singing In The Rain,” I said while Debbie and the dancers danced.
She looked at me and smiled. “That’s right.”
As soon as Debbie started singing again, she turned away and she started singing softly. I tried to remember the words. I stumbled through a few lines, but after that she and I were both singing; When skies are grey, when skies are blue, Morning, noon and night time too. All I do the whole day thru, is dream of you.
I looked back at Natasha, because all I did was think if her and resolved in my mind what it was that I’ve been feeling since the minute I first saw her. What’s cool about that is that I found peace in that recognition.
After we left the center, I surprised Natasha and took her to the Peterbrooke Chocolatier at the Town Center.
“They are my favorites!”
“We have several dark chocolate signature pieces and other admirable flavors,” the clerk said.
“Yes,” Natasha said and she looked around the shop. “But the dark chocolate French truffles always were my favorite.”
“Try a piece?” the clerk asked.
“I’d love to.”
I looked at the way her face lit up and I knew this was the time to tell her how I felt.
“Natasha.”
“Yes.”
“There’s something I have to tell you.”
“What’s that?” she asked, barely able to tear her eyes away.
“I think about you every night and you’re the first thing I think about every morning when I open my eyes.”
“I feel the same way about you.”
“Do you, really, because I’ve spent weeks trying to put what I feel for you into words. Now I know that it’s only love that I could be feeling.”
This is the end of It’s Only Love
But not to worry, Victor and Natasha will return in
With You
