Blackmailed by the Mafia Boss

Wasn’t that what mafia men did? Or did they get someone else to do the deed for them? She didn’t know.

When it came to Gino, she knew nothing about him but the whispers of his name in passing. She’d never been the kind of person to listen to gossip, but when a warning was always given, she paid attention no matter how hard it was.

Time passed. She didn’t know how much, and part of her expected him to go back on his deal. Just as she stood about to change into her usual attire, the door opened.

She looked up, and there was Gino.

He looked calm, composed, poised. Not a single hair was out of place.

“I apologize for my lateness. Breakfast is ready.”

She forced a smile to her lips. “I figured you didn’t want me to join you.”

“You think I’d back out on my word?”

“I honestly don’t know what to expect from you.”

“That’s fair. I’ve not exactly been kind to you, have I?”

“I have a feeling that is sarcasm. You haven’t hurt me. You’ve locked me in a tower in a way, but you’ve also given me orgasms, clothes, and fed me. I don’t think you’ve hurt me.”

“I can promise you, Avery Finch, I never go back on my word. When I promise to do something, I do it.”

“Okay. I can trust you. Got it. Noted.”

He chuckled. “Are you ready to go downstairs?”

“Yes.” It took every single ounce of control not to jump up and down for joy. It was finally happening. She was leaving, and she couldn’t wait to have breakfast sitting on a nice, comfortable seat and not on the floor.

“I’m warning you, my men are trained to hurt and injure. If you think to escape this place, you will be hurt. I won’t kill you. You’ll be in a lot of pain, and you’ll regret it.”

“I’m not going to run away. I promise. I just want to eat breakfast and dinner without sitting on the floor.”

He offered up his arm, and she took it without a second’s hesitation. As they walked out of her room and headed toward their breakfast, she tried not to think of her trust in this man. Should she really trust a man that had her father’s legs broken?

He should have paid the debt.

He’s your father.

And he shouldn’t have gone asking Gino for money.

She’d never been so torn about anything in her life. Pushing all of those doubts to one side, she focused on her stomach.

Gino opened the door to the dining room, and they moved up to the far side of the room where two settings were laid.

He let go of her arm and held out the chair.

She slowly lowered herself into the seat as he pushed her under. She breathed out a sigh of relief. Finally, she was sitting at a table to eat breakfast.

There was a huge pile of pancakes, bacon, eggs, and maple syrup. So much food and her stomach growled.

Gino served her up, and she smiled, happy.

Once he was done, she waited for him to finish serving himself, and she picked up her knife and fork. Recalling how he’d closed down the night before, she didn’t talk about her parents or eating breakfast.

Neither of them spoke as they ate. Every now and then, she glanced toward him and found him watching her.

Her cheeks burned red, but she didn’t stop eating.

“You’re enjoying that?”

“It’s really good.”

“I’m glad.”

“You like pancakes with bacon and eggs?”

“I love it all.”

“Right.”

She didn’t eat the bacon though.

“You don’t like bacon?” he asked.

“No, I don’t.”

“I’ll remember that.”

She opened her mouth and closed it. She pressed her lips together and then decided to throw caution to the wind. “What about you?”

“What about me?”

“What do you like?”

“You want to get to know me?”

“Why not? We’re both here, and I rather like the thought of getting to know you. I mean, if you’d let me.”

He took a slice of bacon into his mouth, and she waited. “What do you like to do for fun?” he asked.

“You want me to answer?”

“You really think I’m going to answer your questions without having a few of my own?”

She chuckled. “I don’t know. I honestly don’t know what to expect.”

“I’m waiting.”

“Of course. I love to read, watch movies. I do watch a lot of romance stuff. No porn. That was my first, erm, glance into porn.”

“Did you like it?”

“What?”

“The porn.”

“Oh, it was fine. There was nothing wrong with it.”

“But?”

“It was all the same. Didn’t you think? A guy or girl shows up, they share this corny look, get naked and have sex in as many different positions as they can. Also, they have to say as many dirty things as possible, and if that’s not enough, which it never is, it has to go gross.”

He chuckled. “You’ve given this a lot of thought.”

“Not really. Just my limited observations.”
