921 Cupid's Chase: A Forbidden Romance
The tears are falling hard and fast now as she nods.
“Yes,” Charity murmurs. “I’d love to be your wife, Mason.”
With that I slip the ring onto her finger and we both pause for a moment to admire it. The ring is a perfect fit, as if it’s always belonged on her hand, and then my pretty fiancée throws her arms around me with such exuberance that we both fall, laughing, onto the soft carpet. Then she pushes herself up on her elbows and looks down at me.
“Thank you, Mason, but I have an announcement too,” she says, giggling while wiping tears from her eyes.
“Oh, yeah?” I growl, my hands circling around to squeeze that lush ass. Has her bottom gotten bigger lately? I love the fullness of my fiancée and constantly tell her how much I adore her curves. But this time, there’s a reason for the added heft.
“I’m pregnant,” she confesses with a soft smile. “You’re going to be a daddy to baby number two in oh, about seven months.”
For a moment, I’m stunned into speechlessness, but then I spring into action, sitting up with my back against the couch before pulling her into my lap. I kiss Charity until her lips are swollen, all the while muttering adorations into her ear.
“I love you, honey,” I rasp. “Thank you so much for making me a daddy again. I want you and I want this baby more than you can imagine. Thank you, thank you, thank you, sweetheart.”
The beautiful brunette’s laughing and crying now as she kisses me back, but I know these are tears of joy. After all, we were never supposed to be a family. I was her mom’s boyfriend, and therefore taboo and technically off limits. But I’m also the fireman who stormed into the sweet woman’s life, and now with my baby in her belly, I’ll never let Charity Caldwell go.
