Now when I come clean, she’ll probably never want to talk to me again. I already really like her, and I’ve barely scratched the surface on getting to know her. I need an actual date with her, as myself and see what happens from there…

With that thought in mind, I pick up my phone and call her, I wait anxiously for her to answer. I feel like I’m on pins and needles and it amazes me. I’ve never reacted to a woman like this in my life.

“Hello?” Lee asks breathily.

“Hey, Beautiful,” I murmur. Just hearing her voice is enough to make me ache and fills my body with heat.

“Hey,” she almost giggles. “It’s good to hear from you. I’ve been thinking about you,” she admits.

“I’ve been thinking about you, too.”

“You have?” she asks, sound surprised.

“I have.”

“I like that,” she says with a blunt honesty that I’m not expecting from a woman. This tells me that Lee doesn’t play games and I really like that. “What are you up to?”

“I’m relaxing and thought I would give you a call. What are you doing?”

“Sadly, nothing exciting. I’m lying in bed, about to call it a night. I have to be up and working at five in the morning.”

“So, you’re saying you’re in bed talking to me on the phone?” I barely keep from groaning. The image of her lying in her bed, with her long hair down, spread out against her pillow, makes my cock twitch.

“Yeah,” she laughs. She must’ve heard something in my voice that gave away how she affects me.

“What are you wearing?” I ask, my voice deepening, a wicked grin on my face as I wonder if she’s going to play along.

“You did not just ask me that,” she gasps, before giving a full laugh that makes me smile. While she thinks I’m joking, I truly want to know. I want to picture her in my mind, exactly how she is right now.

“Are you too chicken to tell me?” I tease, daring her to see if she will give me what I want.

“I’m naked,” she says into the phone boldly. My heart kicks up, and most of my blood travels south.

“You’re lying,” I accuse her. I bite my tongue and refrain from turning this call into something that a horny teenager might have with his girlfriend.

“You’ll never know,” she teases, laughing again.

“You’re cruel,” I laugh. Anything to break up the tension of my body being solely focused on Lee naked in her bed.

“What are you wearing?” she asks, “It’s your turn to share.”

“Silk, striped pajamas, with a red foam nose and a painted smile on my face, because it makes me feel pretty,” I say with as much seriousness as I can muster.

“A clown costume makes you feel pretty?” she laughs again.

“Don’t judge me,” I tease.

“Oh, I’m not judging. You might not know this, but clowns get me all hot and bothered.”

“Good, that’s all part of my plan.” This time there’s no laughing. I think we both know I mean it. Visions of her gorgeous body under me, as she’s panting—ready for me to take her, run through my mind.

Lee yawns and I can tell she’s trying to stifle it so that I don’t hear. Still, I instantly feel guilty.

“I’m going to hang up, sweetheart. You need to get some sleep,” I reluctantly tell her, not wanting to hang up.

“I’m sorry,” she murmurs. I can hear the regret in her voice.

“Don’t be sorry.”

“I like talking to you, though,” she says, and that simple admission definitely puts enough heat through my body that I feel as if I’m branded.

“Trust me, beautiful, I like it, too.”

“Then, we will talk again, soon?” she asks, sounding hopeful.

“Of course. And next time, I’ll tell you all about the giant red shoes I wear.”

“Giant red shoes?” she giggles, and the sound makes my lips stretch into an even larger smile than I’ve been wearing this whole conversation.

“Really big,” I croon. “And, you know that saying, right?”

“What saying?”

“The bigger the feet, the bigger—”

“I uh… think I should go on that one,” she says with a full-out laugh.

“Sweet dreams, honey.”

“Sweet dreams, Eugene.”

The smile instantly leaves my lips as she reminds me that she doesn’t even know who I am. I called her to confess, but I like her even more for playing along with me. I chickened out, not wanting her to push me away.

I think I’m in trouble.

Five

Lee

Three straight days of phone calls with Eugene—and always right before I go to sleep—have me walking on cloud nine. I’m quickly becoming addicted to our conversations. Although, it’s not him I’m talking to right now. It’s Denise. Of course, I realize all I’m talking to her about is Eugene. In fact, the whole conversation is about how I’ve been speaking with Eugene every night. I can’t hide how happy I am, even though she forces me to admit three times so far that I was wrong about the matchmaking service.
