“Everything?” She lowered her gaze to her fingertips. “I wish it was that easy, but it isn’t. Not for me. It never has been.”

Never has been? What did she mean by that? Erica had always been the bright light in Destiny. Her picture should’ve been next to the word “optimistic” in dictionaries. Well, it should’ve been until recently.

“Then tell us what you can, Erica.” Dylan put his arm around her. “We’re all ears.”

“Look. You saved me. I know that. God only knows what would’ve happened if you hadn’t come when you did. But you did come. I’m safe now. The Russian guy got what he wanted. Scott told me that ten million hasn’t been recovered from what was sent on my behalf. It’s over.”

“It isn’t over for me,” Cam said, grabbing her hand and squeezing. “I want you, Erica. I want you with all my heart.”

She smiled weakly. “I know you do. You’re like an open book to me, Cam.” She turned to Dylan. “You? Not so much. You’re a mystery to me, Dylan Strange. You always have been.”

“Go on,” Dylan said calmly.

Cam hated how this date was turning out. Whatever it took, he’d see to it that Erica and Dylan would fall in line with what was clearly the best thing to happen for all of them. They’d found each other. Love was staring them in the face. The night was perfect. The meal was perfect. Erica was perfect. Dylan? Well, maybe not perfect but the best damn brother a man could ever ask for, a man he wanted to share the love of his life with.

Fuck!

“But even if you both feel the same about me, I can’t go there with you two. Not now.” She took a deep breath and then sighed, one of those sighs that reached into a man’s gut like a knife, hitting vital organs. “Maybe not ever.”

Cam was through playing. “Getting the cart before the horse, I’d say, Erica. You, too, Dylan. We’ve only begun this relationship and you two fools are done before we even get one step down the path. Yes. I called you fools. I love you, Erica Coleman, but open your eyes. I want you. This idiot wants you, too. I’m sick of this. I know you’ve suffered. I hate what happened to you. Hate it like I’ve never hated anything in my life. But it’s over. You’re safe. You’re with us. And I, for one, am not letting you go. You need me as much as I need you. Damn it, can’t you see what I see?”

“I didn’t know it was tough love time, bro.” Dylan shook his head. “Give her a break.”

“No, Dylan. He’s right. I’m pushing away the two men who mean the world to me.” Erica closed her eyes. “I hate how I’m feeling. I don’t want to be this way. I want to go back to the way it used to be.”

“I don’t,” Cam told them. “Silent glances at you will never be enough for me anymore, Erica. That’s all we had before. I’ve never been one to shy away from what I want except back then with you. The genie is out of the bottle. It’s never going back in.”

Cam held his breath as he waited to see Erica’s reaction. He hadn’t meant to spill his guts the way he had. But he couldn’t let the two people he loved most in life walk away from him. A sense of relief flooded through him when Erica opened her eyes and smiled. She leaned forward, pressing her lips to his.

Chapter Ten

Erica’s heart was racing as Cam deepened their kiss. His tongue tangled with hers, conveying more to her than words ever could.

Dylan feathered the back of her neck with his fingers, causing her skin to tingle.

Breaking off the kiss, she stared at Cam for a long silent pause. His eyes clawed her with hunger. Her heart was already theirs, though she knew it would be ripped apart soon. But she didn’t want to think about that. In fact, she didn’t want to think at all. It’s not fair to use them to quiet my gloom. They deserve better. “Maybe we should talk about this more.”

“Talk is over,” Cam stated firmly. “You’ll listen to my body with your body tonight.”

Dylan kissed the back of her neck. “Better listen to him, baby. I’ve never seen him so twisted up before.”

Erica trembled, realizing she’d never seen Cam like this before either. He’d been sweet and tender with her these last four days. Now his intensity was like a hot, thick cloud around him, sizzling even her skin.

“Strip,” Cam demanded. “Now. This date just turned to D/s, understand?”

She nodded. It had been some time since she’d been to Phase Four, but she still knew the basic protocols. Didn’t they deserve this night from her after all they’d done? Of course, they did.

“We’ve never had a scene with her, bro. We need to know her safe word,” Dylan said calmly, letting her know he was okay with where the evening was going but wanting to keep Cam reined in. What a turnaround in the brothers. Normally, Dylan seemed the more formidable of the two, but now it was Cam who was wildly alarming.

Cam cupped her chin. “What’s your safe word, sub?”

It sounded more like a command than a question to her. “I use the colors still. The ones that I learned in my training class at the club.”

“Good. Red. Yellow. Green.” Cam nodded, and ran his hands over her breasts. “I know what to do.”

He pinched her nipples, conveying a sting to each that shot a pulse down into her core. She felt the tingles grow inside her.

She wanted to be with them. Here. Now. Wanted it with all her heart. But tonight would be their last time together.
