He leaned into the tight curve, his knee dangerously close to the asphalt as he followed the deserted road. He loved an open road, and tonight, that was exactly what he got. He wondered if the blond lawyer had ever been on a bike. Would he appreciate the feeling of freedom that it brought?

Keyes shifted gears, slowing as he neared his turn on the right. He eased into the brake as the bike hit the deer gate at the entrance to the driveway, just enough to keep him upright over the slick cattle guard. Keyes picked up speed as he headed up the road to the old barn, enjoying the last few seconds of his ride. The wind hit his face, and the fragrance of all this well-kept natural greenery assaulted his senses, drowning out even his bike’s exhaust. He flew past his uncle’s house, revving the engine—his way of alerting the man of his presence—while his soul connected to the beauty of this hidden escape. It wasn’t his home, but his uncle always made him feel like it was, and that was all that counted.

For all the wrong reasons, this ride tonight had been even better than normal. His head remained stuck on the man he’d been fixating on since they’d first met. What the fuck was wrong with him? He was horny, frustrated, confused, and completely intrigued; that was what the fuck was wrong with him.

Did he believe for a second any of these feelings were reciprocated? Hell no. Did he believe the lawyer hadn’t had any involvement in the raid? Well, for some reason, he kind of did. It seemed farfetched to believe Alec was some undercover operative who’d used his real business card in their first meeting, but honestly, stranger things had happened. But in what world were hot lawyers interested in having lunch with grungy bikers like himself? Why would anyone that hot want someone like him? Alec could have absolutely been playing him.

It took a couple of hours for the negative feelings he’d had earlier to fade. Honestly, it didn’t truly matter. Besides, if Alec had been sent to find out anything, Keyes had given nothing away and would probably never see the guy again. So he was free to fantasize about burying himself balls deep in all of that squeaky-clean counselor flesh, and boy, had he been. More than once this afternoon, he’d wished he’d thought to snap a picture of the blond. Whatever. He’d find one online and memorize it for his next spank bank session.

When Keyes pulled up to the shop on the back of the property, he hopped off his bike and used his key to unlock the padlock. Only then did his thoughts stray from Alec to the faint sound of a security camera moving, probably in his direction. It was his uncle. His mother’s only sibling. Uncle Clyde didn’t like his club brothers and hated his father, always leery and on guard that they’d find this place. Keyes lifted a hand, waved at his uncle through the lens as he lifted the heavy warehouse door and flipped on the light switch before throwing his leg over the leather seat and driving his motorcycle back inside the dark building.

Maybe as long as seventeen years ago, Clyde had sought Keyes out, looking for his sister. His mom had died by then, and to this day, none of his brothers knew that he and his uncle had built a relationship, not even Devilman. His uncle was a good man. Taught fifth grade at some elite private school and had taken Keyes in many times after his father had beat him up or kicked him out of the house. It was during one of those times that Uncle Clyde offered Keyes this shop to tinker around in. They had spent hours in there together, studying, making sure Keyes got his high school diploma, even made sure he had a few college courses under his belt. His uncle found an online motorcycle repair program and insisted he get his certification. Turned out, he had a knack for rebuilding bikes.

Since then, anytime Keyes got his hands on extra money, it went toward the contents he kept hidden in this barn. His uncle had found an old Harley XR750 in an estate sale. The family didn’t know what they had and had let it go for less than five hundred bucks. Keyes rebuilt and salvaged everything he could, and the refurbished bike now sat shiny and proud as his gold star find. It was also where he kept his sleek black and chrome Honda CBR1000RR. The badass ride he’d bought new last year. Since then, Keyes had been teaching himself to trick ride, a talent his brothers appreciated in others, but didn’t see a big need for in the real world.
