Hades' Flame (Devils Rejects MC 1)
After dropping Amber back off at her car and putting my groceries away, I head to the clubhouse just as my man told me to.
I have to call Danny because the jackass prospect manning the gate won’t let me in because I don’t have my vest on. I even showed him my tattoo and he wouldn’t even unlock the gate for me. I feel sorry for him whenever Danny gets a hold of him for this bullshit.
By the time I park my car Danny and a guy I haven’t met before are waiting for me.
“Hey, baby. How was shopping with Amber?”
“It was good. She’s nice.”
“Good. I’m glad she is making you feel welcome. This is Zo Zo. He’s going to tint your windows and hook you up with a DVD player in the back for CT.”
“Awesome.”
“Go on inside. I think MaryAnn is fucking around in the kitchen and a couple of the other old ladies are around. They are organizing a birthday party for Cupid.”
“Okay. Cool.” I give him a tense smile as I remember Amber’s warning about the other old ladies.
When I walk in I hold my head up high, hoping I can avoid these other women. If they are anything like Amber warned, they aren’t the kind of women I want to befriend.
My wish doesn’t come true. As soon as I start toward the kitchen a blonde-haired chick gets in my face, twirling her curly hair around her finger. “Who are you and where do you think you’re going?” She sneers.
“Hi, nice to meet you. I don’t think we have formally met. My name is Sara. I’m Hades’ old lady.” I shoot her fake smile.
“Oh, well, why didn’t you say so. I’m Stephanie and that’s Shelia.” She points to a woman with short black hair with purple streaks in it. “And that is Donna.” She points to the brunette who has highlights in her hair.
I give them a small wave.
“Why don’t you join us. We could always use an extra hand. We are trying to decide on a theme for Cupid’s birthday party.”
“Oh well…um, have you asked MaryAnn. She seems to know the guys pretty well,” I suggest.
Her face twists up in an unflattering way. “God no. Honey, we do not associate with clubwhores. You are in desperate need of our guidance. Poor dear. Come on and have a seat.” She grips my shoulders, steering me in the direction of their table, and I don’t like it.
My brother’s advice about not taking shit plays in my head.
“Actually, I think the only thing I need is to get away from a stuck-up bitch like you. If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go see my friend, MaryAnn.”
I shrug her away and move past her to the kitchen where I find MaryAnn giggling.
When the door closes behind me she gives me a high five. “You’re good people, Sara.”
“You too.” I smile.
“God, I hate those bitches. They always come in once a week and hold their little sisterhood meeting, acting like they own the damn place. I don’t know why Hades allows it.”
“Maybe I can talk to him about it.”
“Don’t trouble yourself. Stephanie would stir up more shit than it’d be worth. She only hates me because I fucked Uno before they got married. They weren’t’ even a thing and I don’t know why he told her to start with.”
“Good grief.” I shake my head. “Can I help you do anything?”
“No. I am just hiding out in here until they ask for something or leave.”
“Screw that. Let’s go show them that this is your clubhouse too. I feel like dancing.” I grin.
“This will be interesting.”
“It’ll be fine. Let them start something with me in my husband’s club.”
