Theirs to Keep

“Good morning to you too,” I said, raising my mug cheerily.

“Sleep well?”

I did my level best to keep a straight face. It was tougher than I thought.

“Like a baby,” I somehow managed. “And you?”

“I slept great,” said Roderick, stretching his long arms. “But these guys needed more time for some reason. They never really sleep in to begin with, so I figured I’d let them.”

Bryce laughed. “Let us?”

“C’mon,” Roderick urged again. “We’re already going to hit a little traffic.”

His words sped Camden up a bit. He scr

aped the eggs into a clean plate, then tossed the pan and spatula in the sink.

“Don’t speed,” I warned, blowing the steam off my now-overheated coffee. “Someone’ll give you a ticket.”

“Yeah yeah.”

Roderick left first, leaving me sitting there with the others. Bryce and Camden looked at each other, then back to me.

“Go,” I smiled, holding a hand out for my eggs. “You’d better get in the truck before he drives off without you.”

Camden slid me the plate. As he did, his hand lingered on mine. Even in that one, brief little touch, sparks passed between us.

“You alright?”

The words were meant to be sweet, I knew. But they made me almost resentful.

“Don’t I look alright?”

Casually I sipped at my coffee. I was a big girl. I knew what I was doing. I didn’t need to be treated with kid gloves, and I wasn’t about to let my feelings get hurt over a little sex, even with the boss.

Or rather, a lot of sex. With two of my bosses.

Bryce leaned in, and for a moment they were on either side of me. Their proximity reminded me of last night. It made me shudder.

“We’re not asking to explore your feelings,” he whispered huskily. His voice was hard, tough, manly. “We already know you’re badass enough to handle this. We’re here to tell you something else.”

I felt a surge of excitement flow through me. Mixed in with something like pride.

“What?”

The pause was endless. Head to toe, my whole body tingled.

“We’re doing that again,” Camden growled throatily, and there was zero doubt as to what he meant. “Tomorrow night. Your room. Same time.”

In the span of two seconds, my heart was thundering out of my chest. I could hardly breathe. Barely form the one-word response that dropped from my trembling, willing lips.

“O—Okay.”

Fifteen

KARISSA

“Tell Marius to get his ass down here,” I shouted into the phone. “No one’s doing anything until he does a walk-through.”
