Chernobyl Werewolf (Team Greywolf 3)
He must focus on the need to stop the rogue pack. Until then, she would remain under his protection. Blood mistress or not.
Lev dug his paws into the thick snow and gathered speed. The farther away from her den, the fiercer he became. The last time he felt this way was when hunting the terrorist who had taken her. Back then, he did not have the strong bond he had now. He could never let her go. No matter her decision. The big black wolf shifted into a grizzly bear. Enraged, he took out his frustration on a tree, shaking it until it splintered and crashed to the ground.
Rachel put the pillow over her head as the doorbell rang over and over again. She turned. “Lev, can you…” He must be on his way to answer the door. She got up and donned her robe to join him in the living room.
Nope. Apparently, he had not. No sign of him. The doorbell stopped ringing.
“Rachel, it’s me, Cricket. Can I come in?”
Shit. My handler. She called out. “Give me a minute.”
“Forty seconds.”
Rachel frowned and raced for the bathroom. At least she wasn’t the least bit sore considering she had over the top superhero sex. She put her sex tussled hair in a ponytail. “Coming.”
Rachel opened the door and Cricket, carrying a huge leather binder, swaggered in. Sexy in tight black jeans, combat black boots and form-fitting long-sleeved black t-shirt that read, I heart alphas. She smiled. “Looks like I’m not the only one who needs a strong cup of coffee.” Cricket put the leather-bound binder on the dining table and walked to the kitchen. She found the coffee and began making coffee as if this was her home.
“Umm. Yeah, help yourself,” Rachel mumbled.
“No problem. You had an exhausting night.”
Rachel rubbed her neck. “Yeah, I went to bed late.”
Cricket snorted. “Actually, I think you and Lev went to bed early, or rather bedded early.”
Rachel’s cheeks burned. The woman who appeared barely over the age of twenty-one had some nerve. The entire compound must have heard his howls. Like an idiot, she asked anyway, “How do you know?”
“Oh, girlfriend, even after you take a long hot shower we’ll know you and Lev played naked charades.”
“Do you think Rylee heard his howls?”
“Nah. Our dens are soundproof. Otherwise, how would one ever get a good night’s sleep?” Cricket poured water into the coffee maker and then turned it on. “Shall we say you smell of Chernobyl Werewolf Semen Cologne?”
Rachel tightened her bathrobe. “Are all werewolves so disrespectful?”
Cricket’s amusement turned into a pout. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to be rude. You just need to get used to our noses picking up information the way your eyes see the news. Anyway, I had to get up too damn early after my night of hot werewolf sex. I left my mate snoring, since Rylee wanted me here an hour ago.”
“Thanks for sharing.” Rachel glanced at the wall clock. “It’s only 7 a.m.”
From the cupboard, Cricket pulled out two coffee mugs with the Team Greywolf logo. “That’s what I’m saying. Rylee doesn’t need more than three hours sleep so the rest of us suffer because of it.”
Rachel opened her refrigerator. “So you haven’t eaten breakfast?”
“No time.”
“How about an omelet?”
“Sounds good.”
Rachel took out eggs, cheese, spices and then searched for a pan and utensils. “Honestly, I don’t see why my lessons have to start at the crack of dawn.”
“Rylee wants a rush job on werewolf pack etiquette ASAP.”
“Is the info in that binder?”
“That thing.” She snorted. “Yep.”
Rachel heated the pan. “I suppose it can’t be more difficult than getting through medical school.”
