Rain (Gimme 3)
Once I turn off the water, I hear the phone. I barely wrap a towel around my waist and jump out of the shower to get my phone. “Hey, honey. How’s it going?”
“Good. I’ve just finished my last twenty-page paper.” She pauses and asks softly, “Um…how are you?”
“Missing my woman. I just got out of the shower.”
“Shower?”
“Yes, it’s this invention where water comes out from a sprayer that’s attached to a pipe in a wall.”
“Hahaha. Fucker. That’s not what I meant. I mean…well…are you going out?”
“No. Honey, I busted my ass at work, actually hands-on building. Now, I need one really fucking bad.” I take a whiff of myself, and for a brief moment, I’m glad she’s far away.
“Oh,” she stammers. And this is what makes long distance relationships not work fears and jealousy. I can’t let that happen.
“Honey, I’m not fucking anyone else. Okay. I’m not going anywhere but to bed. I don’t even have the energy to eat.”
“But you need to eat. You worked hard today,” she exclaims. And there’s my sweet, caring woman back. Fuck, I love her.
“I love the way you worry about me. I’ll eat a heavy breakfast.” I didn’t miss the gasp she released when I said love, but when I tell her, I want to see her face. “Are you going to get some sleep?”
“Yeah, I have one more class this week. It feels like forever.
“I know. I miss you. Get some rest. I’ll call you tomorrow.” I look over at my packed suitcase. Yes, I’ll call her tomorrow, but I’ll be closer to her much closer.
Chapter 9
Casey
I finish class, feeling miserable instead of thrilled. I should be happy because I’m done with this one. In the next two weeks, I finish my other two classes and then I have a month of nothing to do but get ready to graduate—paperwork and packing. Damn, I don’t even know if I’m still moving back home. I just want to be with Owen. He hasn’t answered any of my messages since he texted me good morning.
David, a classmate of mine, smiles and walks with me out of the building. “Don’t look so disappointed. Is it because you’re going to miss me? We don’t have to let this connection end.”
“You do if you want to live,” a voice warns him. It’s the voice of my manly beast that I’ve grown to need.
“Owen?” I hurry down the stairs and jump into his arms. “I can’t believe you’re here.” I sob and giggle, kissing his face.
“Surprise.” He kisses me hard as fuck. I’m guessing it’s because of stupid David who never spoke a handful of words to me all semester opened his dumb mouth. He pulls his mouth away from mine and growls out, “Who the fuck is he?”
“Um, just a classmate.”
“Does he normally walk you out?”
“No, actually this is the first time. Which is weird. Maybe he was just being friendly. I wasn’t happy a minute ago.”
“Well, that’s my job to make you happy. I hope I managed that right now.”
“Of course. I can’t believe you’re here. How?”
“See there’s this thing called a plane. And it goes really fast in the sky and can take you all over the world.”
“Dick,” I mutter, slapping his arm as he sets me on my feet. I realize that I must have created one helluva scene. I look around, and some people are gawking, but David is gone.
“Don’t worry, the little twerp left the second you jumped into my arms.”
“I get it now. I must have driven you nuts with my jealousy.”
“Not at all. We’re moving at lightning speed, but I’m old enough to know that’s what I want, and you’re the one I want. I’m even more territorial than you can ever be, but that’s because I found my forever in you.”
He drops to one knee, and I gasp, “Owen.”
“Casey, I love you. I knew that from the first moment our eyes met. Staying away has been painful, but I can’t wait to be with you forever. Tell me you’ll be my forever. Marry me.”
“I love you, Owen!” I squeal loud enough to wake the dead, but it seems we already have an audience.
“Girl, are you going to answer him?” one girl shouts. I laugh realizing I hadn’t said yes.
“So…”
“Yes, of course. Yes. Kiss me, you brute.” He’s up on his feet, sliding the ring on my finger then I’m off my own two feet, and his mouth owns mine.
“Thank you everyone, but I need to speak with her privately,” he cheers, flipping me over his shoulder.
I hear two girls sigh and their friend saying I need a guy like that. “He’s mine,” I warn them from my upside-down perch before smacking his sexy ass.
“Damn right, baby. Now let’s go celebrate.”
Epilogue
Owen
Four months later…
I pull Casey into my office, sitting her on my desk and kissing her wildly. She has on a dress suit that should be banned. On any other woman, I wouldn’t care, but on my wife, it’s the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen. Her tits are getting even bigger than before she was pregnant, and they jut out above the tight fabric. “My mom wants to throw us a baby shower,” I mutter between kisses. Sliding off the jacket and kissing down her to her shoulder.
