The Fake Engagement
He sat on the edge of the bed, waiting his turn. He’d already removed his swim trunks and had a towel wrapped around his waist, but his cock was getting harder by the second.
When Eliza appeared in the doorway of the bathroom in only a towel, he had a sudden urge to tear it off her body.
He didn’t.
“I wasn’t expecting you.”
“I’m tired,” he said.
“Me too.”
She stepped away from the bathroom.
Preston wanted to find another reason to stay, to linger, to talk to her. Instead, he entered the bathroom. He didn’t bother to close the door.
After dropping the towel, he threw it into the laundry basket. Stepping into the cold shower, he welcomed the sting as it hit his flesh.
It did nothing for his raging erection.
He closed his eyes, determined to rid the memory of Eliza’s body from his mind.
It didn’t work.
All he saw was her full body. The ripeness of her in his arms. The fullness of her ass as she filled his palms.
He ached for her. Wrapping his fingers around the length of his dick, he squeezed tightly, but nothing stopped his need.
Preston worked up and down his length, going from the base up to the tip, then back down again. He kept his movements up, imagining Eliza in front of him, on her knees, begging to take his cock.
Those lips would look so good wrapped around his length.
He increased his movements, feeling the spiraling need build. His thoughts went to the woman. Thinking of her in his bed, her legs spread, wanting him, begging him again.
Just the thought of her tight, hot pussy was enough to make him come. He spilled his seed down the drain.
Eliza Drake had gotten under his skin.
The shower had already warmed up by the time he was finished. He washed his body, and still, there was a hint of arousal. There was nothing he could do to stop it. Wrapping another towel around his waist, he entered the bedroom and found Eliza already curled up in bed.
“I’ll give you some privacy.” She closed her eyes.
Did she feel it?
Did she want him the way he wanted her?
The words didn’t come.
This was an agreement to them. They were acting a role. Nothing was different.
He changed into a pair of boxers. Back home, he’d often sleep naked. He didn’t like anything tight around his body.
Preston moved to the bed and slid beneath the covers.
“Thank you for today,” he said.
“It has been a pretty tough day. I don’t like lying to them. You’ve got a cool family, Preston.”
He rolled over to find Eliza had already done so and was looking at him. He lifted his arm and rested his head against his palm. “You like them?”
“Yeah, what’s not to like? They love you, you know.”
“I don’t know.”
She frowned. “What don’t you know?” she asked.
“I have to wonder half of the time if I’m a disappointment. Rather than stay and help build all of this, or at least maintain it, I went off and did my own thing. I’ve always wanted to do my own thing, even when I was a kid.”
“You think they don’t like you because of it?”
He shrugged. “I don’t know. I know they love me. Love and like are two different things.”
“True, but I don’t think they don’t like you. I believe they love you very much and they’re worried about you. Families do that a lot. They worry about you.”
“Do your parents?”
“All the time. They hate me being in the city. It was our dream, though. It probably sounds stupid, but we were going to go and gain all of this experience and open up our own business. We’d create an opportunity in this world for the bigger woman.”
“Bigger woman?”
“I don’t think it has escaped your notice that we’ve all got some meat on our bones. It was what bound us together. We protected each other.”
“You want to start your own business.”
“We do, one day, when we’re ready. I don’t know if our dreams have changed a whole lot since then. My parents believe in me, but they’re scared of me getting my heart broken.”
“You miss them?”
“Yeah, I do. Do you miss this place and your folks when you’re in the city?”
He blew out a breath. This had to be the single most honest conversation he’d ever had. “Truthfully, when I’m working, I don’t miss a damn thing. It’s my company, my accomplishment. Where people said I wouldn’t get to do it, I defied the odds, and I did it, you know. This is all mine, and no one can take it away from me.”
“But?” she asked.
“There’s no but.”
“There so is a but, Preston. Tell me. We’ve crossed so many lines today. The least we can do is be honest with each other, if we can’t be honest out there.”
“Now that you say it like that, being here, I don’t miss city life. I don’t miss the early mornings or the office banter. I don’t miss the meetings, or my damn apartment.” He snorted. “I sometimes think I go to work just so I’m not so fucking alone.” He’d said too much.
