The Greek Doctor's New-Year Baby

He’d planned to do all that for her?

Cook her an entire dinner of puddings?

Just to say sorry?

She blinked hard. ‘Theo. I don’t know what to say.’

‘I’ve got a better idea.’ He dipped his head and brushed his mouth against hers. Softly. Gently. A kiss of warmth and promise.

Then he did it again, this time taking a tiny nibble of her lower lip, coaxing her into a response. And then it was as if something had snapped and the kiss turned hot, his mouth jammed against hers. His arms were wrapped round her, holding her tightly against him, and hers were wrapped equally tightly around him.

Right now, she needed this so much. She wanted him to blow her mind with pleasure, make her forget the horrible day they’d spent at work.

He broke the kiss, whispering something in Greek that she didn’t quite catch, and then he drew a trail of hot, openmouthed kisses all the way down her throat. Madison closed her eyes and tipped her head back, wanting more; right now she needed to be skin to skin with him. She wanted him to take off her top and bare her skin and kiss every inch of skin he uncovered until she was so dizzy with desire that she couldn’t think straight.

‘I love this colour on you,’ he murmured against her ear, his breath fanning against her skin and making her shiver. ‘You look great in strong colours.’

Colours? He was kissing her stupid and he could notice what she was wearing? She opened her eyes and stared at him in disbelief. ‘You notice colours? I thought only—’

‘Gay men did?’ he finished, laughing. ‘Remember my sister Thalia’s an interior designer. After half a day with her you look at things in a whole new way. So, yes, I notice colours. You look fabulous in that.’ He nipped her earlobe gently. ‘I want to make love with you, Maddie. I’ve wanted you since the first moment I danced with you at the ball. I’ve been trying to hold back, for your sake—but I can’t hold back any more.’ His voice had gone husky with desire, and his accent was just that little bit stronger. Sexy as hell.

‘I want you, too,’ she whispered.

He slid his fingers under the hem of her top; she could feel the pads of his fingertips stroking the skin of her abdomen, warm and soft and very, very sure of what he was doing.

He dipped his head again and brushed his mouth very lightly against hers in the sweetest, gentlest kiss. Within a second the kiss had turned so hot that her bones felt as though they were melting.

Ridiculous. She knew it was anatomically impossible. But when he kissed her—and she was kissing him back—it felt as though anything was possible. Right at that moment she wanted time to stop so the kiss would last for ever.

It had never been like this for her before. Not even with Harry.

‘I know this is a bad idea,’ he said as he broke the kiss.

‘Actually, I think this is one of your better ideas,’ she corrected, cupping one hand against his cheek. ‘Right now, we need to celebrate life.’

He turned his face to the side so he could press a kiss into her palm. ‘You have a point. Allow me a caveman moment?’

‘You had cavemen in Greece? I thought you were all born sophisticated,’ she teased.

‘We do cavemen—in our fashion.’ He raised an eyebrow. ‘But if you want sophistication…’ He proceeded to kiss her. Thoroughly. Until her knees went weak and she didn’t protest when he picked her up and carried her up the stairs as though she weighed no more than a feather.

Once in his bedroom, he set her on her feet—letting her slide all the way down his body, holding her close so that she could feel just how turned on he was and how much he wanted her. Then he swiftly sorted out the curtains and switched on the bedside light. Catching her eye, he said, ‘Sorry that it’s an ordinary bedside lamp and not a string of pink, fluffy lights.’

She laughed. ‘Clearly I need to buy you some.’

He groaned. ‘That wasn’t a hint or a challenge, Maddie.’

‘No?’

‘No. And I’ve got more important things to think about than fluffy lights.’

‘Such as?’

He rubbed the pad of his thumb along her lower lip. ‘You have a beautiful mouth, Maddie.’

His touch made desire lick all the way down her spine. Spark to a flame. ‘So do you.’ She imitated his action.

He shivered, then laced his fingers through hers and slowly drew her arms upwards. ‘That’s better,’ he said softly, and pulled her top up over her head. ‘Have I told you how beautiful you are?’ he asked, his voice husky. He traced the lacy edge of her bra with the tip of one finger. ‘Just gorgeous. And I can’t believe I’ve managed to keep my hands off you for so long.’
