Into the Darkness
Good Morning, Miss Mason,
I’m thinking you need a new workout routine since clearly you don’t have the stamina to keep up with me.

Well I’ll have you know that Donkey Kong was my favorite game and of course I still hold the highest score. I shall eagerly wait for you, friend with benefit.

P.S. I’m glad there’s a next time.

The rest of the morning flew by. I sat with Kate discussing our meeting with Victoria Preston today. My cell buzzed. Not recognizing the number, I picked it up.
“Lex,” I answered flatly.
“Please don’t hung up, Lex.” I recognized Samantha’s voice. Fucking hell, I didn’t need this shit. How did she get my fucking number?
“What do you want, Samantha?”
“Please just listen to me then I will leave you alone. I’m sorry for my behavior at the club. I had no right being that drunk and forcing myself on you and causing a scene.”
I listened, fucking angry as hell. Kate sat there silently listening to every word I said. Why this bitch thought she had the right to come back into my life when Charlotte had was beyond m
e.
“Things haven’t been good between Rodney and I and—wait before you say anything—I just wanted to let you know that I saw Charlie. I wanted to apologize for what I did to her.” Her voice quieted down.
“Excuse me?” I was fucking livid! She had no right contacting me and she especially had no right speaking to Charlotte. I clenched my cell. What the fuck was going on?! It was like fate saying “here, have a taste of the perfect life and what’s been missing, now see ya later because it’s going to shit on you from a great height.”
“Lex, she forgave me for my mistakes. Why can’t you? We were all just young and stupid at the time.”
“Don’t give me young and stupid, Samantha. YOU FUCKED UP MY LIFE!” I slammed my finger on the end call button and threw the cell onto the sofa.
