Millie's Second Chance (The Town of Pearl 4)
He blatantly looked Millie over from head to toe extremely slowly. So much so that Millie felt body parts tremble and her nipples harden to pebbles.
“Naw, Millie is fucking perfect.”
She heard gasps but she was too absorbed in staring at Dalton to notice. He reached out his hand and she immediately accepted it as he practically walked over Stella and her friends and escorted her to the front.
“You better go sniffing somewhere else, girls, looks like the Lewis brothers are staking a claim,” she heard Lena say and Dalton hugged her closer to his side, laying a hand over her waist, and nearly her ass, possessively.
Chapter 12
“Let me get this straight. You actually had her meet you and Dalton at the dojo so you could teach her how to fight to the death? Are you out of your fucking minds? She’s a beautiful young woman, living in fear right now because of some asshole,” Anthony said, raising his voice. They were all sitting around the back porch talking about Millie.
“That’s exactly why we met her, Ant. She’s used to handling things on her own, but she’s scared out of mind over this jerk. She said she should have died the last time the asshole got ahold of her. She seems to be at war with herself right now and the decisions she made over the years,” Hank replied.
“She wasn’t just fighting me on that mat. She was fighting herself,” Dalton whispered before he took a slug of beer from the bottle he held.
Hank nodded his head then continued.
“She would have gone and tried to find someone else to help her. It was our opportunity to gain her trust and get to know her. Dalton and I talked about it. We figured we could get her to see that she wasn’t alone in this.”
“Well, did you change her mind about it? You could have hurt her, Dalton. You’re huge compared to her and used to pushing the limit in your classes,” Marco added as he eyed his brother. Anthony didn’t want this to turn into a pissing contest over Millie and who cared for her more.
“I didn’t hurt her. I wouldn’t hurt her ever,” Dalton shot back at Marco.
“He didn’t hurt her. It worked out in the end. He pushed her, telling her she wasn’t ready. She pushed back and handled his counterattacks and eventually he wound up on top of her on the mat, between her legs. It was fucking incredible to watch and then he kissed her. They completely forgot that I was there.” Hank chuckled before taking a slug of beer from the bottle he held.
“So after you kissed her, did you tell her that she doesn’t need that type of training? That we’re all here to protect her?” Jeremy asked.
“I was about to, but then Stella and the crew showed up and interrupted,” Dalton stated, looking annoyed to Anthony.
“What happened?” Anthony asked and Dalton explained.
“She’s hard on herself and thinks she’s not attractive,” Dalton added.
“What?” They each responded with similar comments of surprise.
“She is such a stunning woman with her dark blue eyes and long, wavy brown hair,” Jeremy stated.
“She has a hell of a body, too.” Dalton sat back and stared out across the yard.
“Damn straight, she does. She’s perfect,” Jeremy stated.
“Well, we’ll just have to show her how beautiful and perfect we think she is. It’s good that you kissed her, Dalton. She needs to start accepting her attraction to each of us. Jeremy and I need to make our position known with her, too. We’ll start tomorrow at the Triple C,” Anthony told them.
“I kissed her, too. Right after Dalton did. She looked so beautiful, her lips all swollen and wet from Dalton’s kisses. She came to me willingly and didn’t resist my touch or my kisses. It was a positive sign,” Hank told them.
“Sure is. I can’t wait to kiss her and hold her, too,” Jeremy added and they were quiet a moment before Marco, the oldest, spoke up.
“I think you all need to know what I found out from Stacy, Anna, and of course, the detective from New York.”
“Sure, Marco, anything you can tell us will help us to protect her and understand where her thinking may be at,” Anthony replied.
* * * *
Marco began to explain Millie’s relationship with Frank, Stacy’s saving her from being killed, and Millie’s recovery time in the hospital. His brothers were all shocked and equally upset with the details. He had been, too, as he spoke with the women and then the detectives.
“This guy, Frank, is apparently obsessed with Millie. The detectives had notes from the therapist in their possession that state Frank admitted that he regretted failing to kill Millie. He supposedly felt incomplete.”
“Lousy, sick bastard,” Jeremy stated.
