Making of Them (Beating the Biker 3)
“Well,” Saks allowed with a smile. ?
?I guess the only cure for that is to change your name to Parks.”
CHAPTER TWELVE
“I guess that’s the answer then,” Chrissy agreed. She put her head against his chest, making his heart swell. Atop her head his chin rested, and for a moment he simply breathed in the sweet scent of her. This was her, the woman of his dreams, and she’d agreed to marry him. Not right away. He understood that. Besides, there was a piece of business that needed attention first.
A rattling of keys at the door brought Saks’ head up and Luke walked in. “Saks, whose car—?”
He stopped short and stared at Saks and Chrissy.
“Hi, Luke,” Saks said. He felt her attempts at pulling away, but a single loop of his arm kept her at bay.
“What’s going on?”
“Chrissy and I were discussing some things.”
“Uh-huh.”
“Hi, Luke,” Chrissy greeted. “Nice clubhouse.”
“Thanks,” Luke replied. He still eyed Chrissy, as if he was trying to figure out why she was in the clubhouse. Luke rarely got riled about anything, but he wasn’t happy with how the Serafini treated Saks.
Saks appreciated that Luke was trying to look out for him. But his boss and friend was going to have to accept that Chrissy was a part of his life now.
“Do you need anything?” Saks asked.
“I was just trying to figure out whose car that was. And, to tell you that you don’t have to rush into the shop this morning.”
“Oh, good. I was getting ready to take Chrissy to breakfast.”
“Actually, Saks, I should get to the hospital and check on Dad.”
“Okay, baby,” he said. “Call me later and I’ll take you to dinner instead.”
“Sure thing,” Chrissy agreed. “I’ll go get my purse.”
Chrissy took quick steps to Saks’ room. Luke gave her skeptical glance. She returned with her shoes on now and, clutching her purse, gave Saks a kiss on the cheek.
“See you later, baby.”
“’Bye.”
“’Bye, Luke.” When she was out the door, Luke turned to Saks again.
“What the fuck?” Luke demanded. “Haven’t you had enough from that chick?”
“That chick is my fiancée, Luke.”
Shock rolled over Luke’s face. “What?”
“I asked her last night. I’m not letting her get away again.”
“Doesn't her family hate you?”
“They might. But they’ll have to adjust.”
“And if they don’t?”
