The Demonslayer (Seven Sins MC 4)
“If it doesn’t negatively impact The Academy, yes. I think, in a way, we’re all in this together. And not just because of this,” she said, waving toward me. “My colleague pointed out to me today that we actually have a lot more in common than I would have realized before. A free exchange of information between us is probably in the best interest of everyone involved.”
“Agreed,” Ace said, then whispered something to Josephine that had her hopping up, going to the bookcase to grab a couple volumes, then getting right back on his lap.
They were in research-mode.
So I grabbed Dale and brought her back upstairs.
“You were right,” she said, looking a little awestruck at that information.
“I know,” I agreed, pulling her forward by the front of her pants.
“We just had sex,” she said, giving me a smirk as I sat off the edge of the bed.
“Are you trying to tell me you don’t want more?” I asked, slipping my hand into her pants and panties, fingers sliding up her wet pussy.
“No,” she said with a little whimper. “I don’t think I will ever say that,” she said as my fingers slipped inside her.
Well, we had a lifetime to see about that, didn’t we?
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
Dale - 1 day
“Stop giving me that smug look,” I grumbled as Marsh smirked over at me as we stood out front of the seventh house of the day.
It was pick-up day for all the secret society cult guys.
Which really wasn’t as exciting as it sounded.
They were all just humans, after all.
True, it was an interesting peek into the human psyche. The first dude we’d picked up had clearly exchanged human babies to a demon to be eaten just so his scrawny, ugly ass could have a hot-ass model wife. And the second guy had eight fancy sports cars and a house on the river. Another had fame.
So it was interesting.
But boring work.
A small part of me was starting to regret agreeing to take on a more administrative role.
But, I reminded myself, this was just a strange blip.
There was going to be plenty of action to come.
“Admit it, slick,” Marsh said, ducking his head a bit. “You don’t hate me so much anymore.”
“I momentarily forget at times,” I admitted. “Then you remind me by opening your mouth,” I told him, but there wasn’t the same old venom there might have been in my voice.
“You picked me for your little mission.”
“I wanted to show a united front to everyone,” I told him, but we both knew that was only part of the whole truth.
The fact of the matter was, at some point, we both had to accept that the past was passed.
The children we had once been were not the adults we’d grown into.
We had respect for each other.
Maybe we would always snip at each other, but it didn’t have the same malice.
We were on the same team.
We were dedicated to leading The Academy into a new, uncertain future.
Come what may.
Dale - 6 months
The whole world was changing, and this was what he wanted me to think about?
And it wasn’t even a small thing.
It was a huge thing.
A “impacts your entire life” thing.
The sneaky bastard had brought it up post two-hour-long sex session that left my entire body feeling like Jell-O, and while I was wrapped up in the sleepy warm comfort of his wings.
When he knew I was my most vulnerable.
The brilliant asshole.
“It’s too soon to talk about that,” I insisted.
We’d been tap-dancing around the topic almost since the beginning.
See, it was hard to be with someone who was immortal without realizing that, hey, I was going to die some day.
I was sure it was weighing heavy on Minos because while I was all off in the floaty heavens, he would be stuck on Earth forever, missing me.
And, well, I had to factor in the whole old gods bullshit too.
Things were getting dicey all over the world. It was only a matter of time before there was more heat in our town.
And Minos wanted to make sure that nothing happened to me.
I understood where he was coming from.
“I want you safe,” Minos insisted.
“You don’t understand what you are asking of me,” I told him, sitting up, moving away from his wings.
“I am asking for forever,” he said, shrugging.
“In exchange for a piece of my soul,” I told him.
I knew the process well.
Lenore had sat me down to explain it to me as she sat in the kitchen, nursing her new baby whose little horns poked out whenever he cried. Which, admittedly, was one of the cutest things I’d ever seen.
See, there was a ceremony that Lenore could perform. She’d done so for herself as well as Josephine and Nova.
A ritual that made them immortal so they could be with Lycus, Ace, and Drex for eternity.
But they had to give away a piece of themselves.
