She smiles, seemingly impressed as I grab the mattress from the back of the U-Haul. "Can you point me in the right direction?”

She grins. “Of course. Thank you so much.” When we’re out of earshot of Todd, she adds, “I was expecting some more help when I got here, but I don’t know. I think they must just have a lot going on with their jobs.”

“Is Todd’s wife Jane around?”

Molly scrunches up her face. “Haven’t seen her yet, but the kids are watching TV inside, which is kind of why I was hoping to get this done so I could do a better job of, well, my job!”

“Of course,” I say. “I’ll hustle.”

Damn, I don’t mind the view as she shows me up the stairs to her apartment over the garage. The whole time I get to see her ass, see her narrow waist. She looks over her shoulder a few times, making sure I’m there. “You sure you got it, Major?" she asks. Her voice is soft and easy.

"Yeah, I got it," I say, knowing there is no way in hell I won’t do this job right.

Once up the stairs, I set down the mattress, taking in her new place. It's a studio apartment. Not very big, but I suppose if she's by herself, it'll do.

I set the mattress on a bed frame and head back down the to the U-Haul to get some boxes. She follows me and grabs a plastic tote bin. Together we head back up the stairs.

"Is this a short-term job?” I ask her, wanting to know everything I can about her.

"It’s for six months. Trial run, they said—which is fine. I’m not opposed to moving around a bit for work.”

“Have you been a nanny for long?” I ask.

“Nope, my first full-time position. I just finished my degree in early childhood education, but it was never my intention to work at a school or anything. I just love working with kids. This job's good, and I like the area." She shrugs as we set down some boxes labeled kitchen on a small table for two. "I figured the pay’s good, so it'll do until..."

"Until what?" I ask.

She laughs, “I just, you know, will hopefully have kids of my own one day and would like to be home with them full-time."

“You have a boyfriend who is gonna help you with that?”

She shakes her head. “Nope. And if I did, he sure as hell would be here helping me move!”

We both chuckle and I run a hand over the scruff on my jaw, wanting to say something more but knowing I just met this woman. She's none of my business, but fuck, I want her to be.

"Well, I'll help you get the rest of those boxes so you can get to the kids," I say.

"Thanks so much, Major." She smiles. "I'm right behind you."

I swallow, my cock aching at her words. Oh, she can stay behind me all right.

MOLLY

Taking this job was a total lark. I saw the position on nannies4hirenow.com and took it, even though I had never been in this town once in my life and wasn't exactly looking for a short-term gig.

But the pay is amazing, and there are two days off a week, so I figured, what's the harm? It can buy me some time until I figure out what I really want.

Even though I know what I really want. Problem is you can't exactly sign up for a life with a husband and children. You kind of have to go through a few steps first, namely meeting the man of your dreams. Which has proven difficult.

I worked two jobs to get myself through college, and now that I’ve finished, I wonder if I shouldn't have spread myself so thin the last four years. Maybe I could've found love along the way if I hadn't been so focused on work and studies.

But the past is just that, the past. And right now, the present is looking pretty good. Irritable boss aside, I have the most amazing man living across the street from me. It's hard for me not to feel a little weak in the knees because he is handsome, kind, and generous with his time.

Somehow my new boss, Todd, and his M.I.A. wife couldn't even give me the courtesy of helping me unpack this U-Haul, yet Major carried up my mattress all by himself and then carried in my boxes one at a time, making sure I had everything I needed.

"You've been a life-saver," I tell him. "I mean it. I was not expecting so much help from you. I'm sure you have a wife and kids to head home to, and I've taken up all of your time."

Major, though, frowns. "I don't have anyone at home," he says. "I live alone."

I swallow, taking in his words. How is this man single? He is more than the complete package; he is the package. Being with him would be like winning the lottery.
