Jayme & Tripp (Game Wardens 1)
The comical scene had him wanting things he shouldn’t. Like a relationship with Jayme. He knew it was stupid, but he couldn’t stop the feelings welling up inside of him. He and Jayme would be great together. If only he could convince Jayme of that.
“Tripp, save me.” Jayme grunted, tilting his head back to look at the ceiling.
Noah squealed and smacked Jayme’s chin. He took pity on the guy and took Noah from him. Jayme grabbed a paper towel and wiped his face.
“There's drool all over me!”
He rolled his lips in and nodded. “Yeah, that happens.”
“Disgusting.”
“Get used to it.”
Jayme groaned and dropped his head into his hands. “I’m not cut out to be a dad.”
“You’ll be fine.”
Tripp grabbed Noah’s bottle, and went to sit at the table. He got the kid situated in his lap, then handed him the bottle. Noah liked to hold it himself. Jayme finished getting his food, then sat down across from them.
“Do you want me to get you a bowl?” Jayme asked.
He gave him a soft smile. “No. I’ll eat when he’s done.”
“Okay.”
“How’s Mallory doing?”
“Fine, I guess?”
“Has she been having morning sickness?”
Jayme frowned. “I don’t know.”
“You haven’t asked how she’s feeling?”
“Didn’t know I was supposed to.”
He rolled his eyes. “Have you never been around a pregnant woman before?”
“No!” Jayme harrumphed, throwing his arms up.
Noah giggled. He was watching Jayme while drinking his bottle. He apparently found Jayme hilarious.
“Well, you should at least ask her how she’s feeling next time you talk to her. Her body is going through a lot of changes right now.”
“All right.” Jayme frustratingly poked at his spaghetti. “God-fucking-dammit.” Jayme huffed and pulled out his phone. Tripp bit back a smile, as Jayme shoved his bowl away and hit a couple things on his phone before putting it to his ear.
“Hey Mal...listen, I didn’t ask you how you were feeling earlier, how are you doing?...mmm hmm...really? Is that normal?...Well, that’s good...okay...you’re welcome...bye.”
Jayme hung up the phone, then set it on the table while sending Tripp a glare.
“There, you happy?”
He nodded. “What did she say?”
“She’s just been extremely tired, and only a little queasy. She said it’s all normal.”
He nodded. “That’s good.”
“Can I eat now?” Jayme grunted.
“Please do, because you’re getting hangry.”
Jayme’s lip lifted in a sneer which made Tripp smile.
Noah finished his bottle, and as soon as Tripp sat him up; the kid let out a huge burp. Jayme paused mid-bite to stare at the six-month old.
“Excuse you,” Jayme said to Noah. Noah smiled and babbled as if he were talking back to Jayme. Jayme cocked an eyebrow at him and shook his head. “You’re making no sense, man.”
He chuckled. Jayme was funny when it came to talking to Noah. He just talked to him like he was an adult. Jayme finished off his dinner, then took his bowl to the sink.
“Hey Jayme, would you mind holding Noah while I eat?”
Jayme’s head whipped around to look at him, his eyes wide and terrified. “Can’t he sit in his seat?”
“He’ll probably just cry. Plus, he likes you.”
“He likes to torment me, you mean.”
Tripp got up from the table with Noah and walked over to Jayme. He slipped his free hand under Jayme’s shirt, and smoothed his hand up his stomach to his chest. Jayme hummed, his green eyes darkening with lust as he stared at Tripp.
“If you hold Noah, I’ll do some terribly naughty things to you later,” he purred.
“Promise?”
“I promise.”
“Damn you. Give me the kid.” Jayme huffed and held out his hands.
Tripp handed over the baby, then went to get some food. He was starving. Jayme took Noah to the kitchen table and sat down with him. Jayme sat Noah on the edge of the table in front of him. Tripp walked over and sat across from them with his spaghetti. When he looked at Jayme, he saw that he was frowning.
“What’s the matter?” Tripp asked.
“He’s rubbing his eyes.”
“He’s probably tired.”
“What should I do?”
“Hold him against your chest. He’ll probably go to sleep on you.”
Jayme lifted Noah off the table and brought him in close to his chest, putting one hand on his back, and the other under his little butt. Noah immediately snuggled close, his eyes drooping closed. Within minutes, the baby was asleep on Jayme’s chest. Holy shit did the sight do stupid things to Tripp’s heart.
Tripp had just finished eating when there was a knock on the front door. He went and let his sister and brother-in-law, Brett, in.
“Hey, guys. Did you have a nice night?” he asked.
“It was nice. Thank you so much for watching Noah,” Elianna said.
“He’s really good. Don’t even worry about it.”
“Where is he?”
“Jayme’s got him in the kitchen.”
Elianna lifted an eyebrow. “Really?”
He smiled. “Yeah, really. Go look.”
Elianna and Brett walked into the kitchen and all he heard was their collective, “Awww.” He chuckled. Brett went and took Noah from Jayme, tucked the sleeping baby in the crook of his arm, then introduced himself.
