“Fuck yes.”

“Touch me. Please touch me,” he begged, and I was already reaching for his cock even before he finished the plea.

“I’ve got you.” I’d told him that before, and I meant it in a way that extended beyond the sexual, beyond this moment. I had him, and I wasn’t ever taking that responsibility for granted.

I loved the feel of his cock in my hand, long and pulsing, loved taking care of him this way too, and each stroke of my hand brought forth a fresh moan from him and got me that much closer.

“You want me to come this way?” I nipped at his ear. “In you?”

“God, yes. Want it.” He shoved back against me, his determination making my thighs tremble. I wasn’t going to hold out much longer, especially when he added, “Do it, Cash. Fill me.”

“Fuck. Fuck.” I thrust even deeper still, tumbling over the edge despite my efforts, but I frantically stroked his cock faster at the same time. “Come, Danny. Please come for me.”

“Yes. Yes.” And then he was coming too, both of us moaning and shaking. My cock pulsed as his inner muscles gripped me tightly, and fuck, the feeling of releasing inside him had me coming so hard my entire body buzzed with it, and all I could do was hold him as he spurted all over my fist.

The slick feel of his come and the sexy sounds he made had me teasing all the aftershocks I could from him. Eventually, he batted my hand away, but I still took my time untangling, holding him close, some primal part of me wanting to stay inside him as long as possible. My back and thighs started to protest the position, though, and I reluctantly tumbled us gently to the mat.

I fumbled for one of the towels he’d been wearing and was in the process of cleaning us both up when I realized he was softly crying.

“Fuck.” Stomach feeling like I was in freefall with no reserve chute, I dropped the towel to hover over him, stroking his shoulder. “Did I hurt you?”

“No, of course not.” He rolled so he could press a kiss to my palm. “That was the sexiest, sweetest thing in my life. Sorry. Not even sure why I’m crying. Maybe the sex was that good. Never been fucked to tears before.”

He gave a strangled laugh as he wiped at his eyes.

“Don’t be sorry.” Wrapping an arm around him, I pulled him close against me. “The sex was that good for me too, but it was also a long day for you.”

“Yeah.” He exhaled hard. “Some days are longer than others.”

“Yep.” I didn’t walk the same road as him, but I understood what he meant. Some days were more tests of endurance and energy thieves that stole every available ounce of strength. And maybe it wasn’t so much today that had been hard for him, but rather the weight of all the hard days he’d had to make it through on his own. “I’m so proud of you.”

I put all the warmth I could into my voice as I found one of his blankets to pull over us.

“Cash?” He wiggled around to rest his head on my chest, but he didn’t give me a chance to answer before he continued. “I don’t ever want to let you down.”

“You won’t.” I kissed the top of his head. There were no guarantees in life, and I knew that better than most. I didn’t want to put him on some pedestal either, but I honestly couldn’t imagine him disappointing me.

“Thanks.” His exhales became more even, shoulders firmer, grip on my arm stronger. Believing in him was so damn simple when it had such an obvious effect on him. He dropped a kiss right over my heart before snuggling back into my side. “Maybe I’m also sad because I realized I can’t stay here.”

“Tonight?” I groaned. For him, I’d do it, but I was still so wrung out from the sex that the thought of moving made me want to be the one weeping.

“No, not tonight. Pretty sure you’d have to carry me out.” His laugh sounded more genuine now. “I meant in general. Duncan’s team worked hard, but I can’t stay here in this house. Not permanently. This isn’t home.”

“Then you’ll find a place that is,” I said firmly. “Promise. You’ll get a home.”

He deserved to feel safe and secure, and I meant the promise in my soul, adding it to other oaths I’d sworn. He’d get his home. I wasn’t entirely sure how, but I was for damn sure going to give everything I had to make it happen.

Chapter Twenty-Nine

Danny

“I like this arrangement.” Cash, who’d been in something of a strange mood all morning, regarded me with a half-smile over the rim of his smoothie glass.
