Sweet Nothings – Sweet Enough to Eat
I pull out everything I need for breakfast hoping like hell to get it all done and plated before Kinsley wakes up. I’d like to feed her breakfast in bed, if possible.
Turning the television on low to watch the morning news while I cook, I get lost in what I’m doing and it doesn’t take long until the steaks are ready, I whip up the eggs while they’re resting. When everything is done, I plate our breakfast and bring it to Kinsley.
I should have really thought about this plan. I have one plate for us to share and one mug of coffee, hers. I know she’d never drink my black coffee, much like I’d never drink her sugar sweet one.
Kinsley is still asleep when I walk into the bedroom. She’s kicked off the sheets after I’ve left and her body is on full display for me.
Placing the plate and coffee mug on the nightstand, I wake her up with my mouth on one nipple, my hand on the other nipple. Manipulating both at one time, my eyes never leave her face, watching as she slowly comes awake.
The smile that takes over her face is soft, I make my way up her body to give her the kiss I need.
She’s hesitant at first, as if morning breath would ever stop me from kissing her. I nip at her lip until she moans, and then my tongue duals with hers until she’s softer than ever before.
“I like you waking up in my bed,” I tell her after our kiss is finished.
“I do too, your bed is amazing,” a smile is on her face.
“Are you using me for my bed?” I joke.
“Maybe, but I’ll never tell,” Kinsley winks, slowly sitting up. I groan, “If you don’t cover up, neither of us will leave today.”
“Can we take a rain check? I have Sunday off, for the first time in years,” she states.
“You got it, let’s eat breakfast and start our day,” I grab the plate and feed her and myself. We take our time until we’re both needing to leave for work.

Kinsley
I’m on cloud nine the rest of the day, floating here and there. Cleaning, making coffee, and I even did some paperwork while sitting at one of the tables we keep for our customers.
“Okay, where is Kinsley and what have you done with her,” my head tips up in a smile when it hears Sloane’s voice.
“Do I know you? I think my eyes are deceiving me, is that Sloane or a ghost in front of me?” I volley back, standing up from my seat I greet her with arms wide open.
“It’s been forever, we must, must, must do a girls day, soon. I mean that is, if I can rip you away from here and your handsome beau,” Sloane is laughing as she says it. She’s one to talk, she lives, eats, and breathes her bakery.
“Want to do it next weekend? After Valentine’s Day, I have a feeling both of us will be non-stop busy until then,” her more than me. The shop closes at a decent time, her bakery though, It’s open from sunrise to sunset it seems.
“Yeah, I already have orders up to my eyeballs,” Sloane rolls her eyes.
“Do you need help?” I offer already mentally rearranging my schedule to see when I can help her.
“Nah, I have it all taken care of. I’ll let you know if things change though. Speaking of, I have your order in my van,” she replies.
“Let’s go, I’m so excited to see what you brought this week!” I exclaim.
“It’s very red and pink, I’ll tell you that,” she laughs. I walk beside her, I wasn’t kidding when I said I was excited. Sloane brings in new things all the time, and they’re so good. I can barely keep them on the shelf somedays.
“Tell me about Luke,” she asks as we work together, we shoot the shit while we both work. I tell her all about Luke, leaving out the more intimate details. I am not kissing and telling, no way, no how. Not to mention, I know Luke wouldn’t be impressed either.
“I’m happy for you, babe,” Sloane states.
“I am too, it should seem too much, too soon. Yet it feels like we’ve known each other a lifetime.”
“Then go with the flow, just don’t forget about me when you’re off getting married,” she says with a chuckle.
“As if I ever could, you’ll be standing right there beside me, if that ever happens.”
When we finish stocking the display case, I make us both a cup of coffee and we talk for a few more minutes until Sloane has to leave.

Luke
Sitting behind my desk at the office, I’m looking over Nathaniel’s case. Trying not to roll my eyes, I’ve already found one too many loopholes. This case will be cut and dry, I close the case file.
