“How is she?” His genuine concern makes me believe he cares for Audrey deeply, despite not knowing her that well himself.

As I’m about to answer, I get a message underneath the photo.

She stares out of the windows a lot. I think she’s waiting for you.x

It’s a notion that equally saddens me and fills me with a warmth I can’t describe.

Knowing that Jack’s still awaiting my answer, I turn the phone around so he can see what Trent’s sent. I watch as he takes in the photo and the subsequent message underneath.

“Trent sounds like a romantic.”

“Oh, believe me, he is. It’s quite sweet, really. He’s all over team Audrey and Eli.”

“You mean Team Audreli.”

His quick-witted reply causes a chuckle to erupt. “Somehow I’m not sure that would take off.”

Jack muses on that for a moment. “I don’t know. I think it’s quite catchy.”

“Your ring, Mr. Prescott,” the woman behind the counter says, interrupting our little moment. When I turn to place my attention fully upon her, I smile, causing her cheeks to blossom.

“Thank you.”

She simply nods her head before scurrying away, her knees wobbling slightly as she pretends to be busy with some bracelets at the far end of the store. My head soon travels to the conversation Audrey and I had where she relayed how I make women’s knees go weak. A memory which causes my heart to light up.

“Are you ready to go get your girl?” Jack asks as I swing around towards the exit door.

“Ready as I’ll ever be.”

Once my divorce decree is done, I’m hopping on that plane to Sheridan and I’m never looking back. I have my bags packed, a hotel booked, and welcome load of appointments with real estate agents to look at some property around town. However, the heart of my mission is solely about one girl. One small-town girl with a big heart and an air about her that stole my own.

I don’t care how long it takes. Even if it destroys the career I have tirelessly built up since I was in my teens, I will sacrifice it all. All that matters is her… my Audrey. And I would run to the ends of the earth if it meant she would be mine again.

With renewed energy and determination, I suck in a deep breath before heading out of the store with the ring tucked safely in my inside pocket and Jack supporting me by my side.

Audrey, I’m coming for you, baby.
