Chapter Ten

Logi bear:I’m afraid I can’t do lunch tomorrow. Something came up at work, but how does dinner sound instead?

Bianca: Dinner is perfect.

Logi Bear: I’ll pick you up...say seven?

Bianca: I’ll meet you there if you tell me where.

Nothing against Logan but it’s been years, and I’d be more comfortable driving myself so at least if the date is terrible, I can leave when I want to.

Logi Bear: You got something against my driving I don’t know about?

Bianca: No. Nothing like that. I’d just prefer to drive myself.

Logi Bear: All right, I’ll see you at Vinos.

Bianca: ...

I start typing out my sounds good when I hear the roar of a motorcycle.

I drop my phone on the cushion of my couch and turn to stare out at the street below. I don’t see him but that doesn’t mean it’s not him. Not that I care. Sandman is nothing to me.  I don’t care to see him ever again. But what feels like seconds later my heart is pounding against my chest as heavy steps thump up my stairs. I gulp and when he knocks my heart does a stupid flutter.

I throw back my door. “Is there something I can do for you?”

“I know you’re mad at me or whatever, but I need to talk to you about...you know.” Dark circles ring his eyes, and automatically I want to hug him because I see the struggle hidden behind his tired eyes. He’s bothered by what we went through. Guilt coats my stomach, and I want to throw up. Mariah lost her life, and here I am making plans for dinner with a guy who would have never looked twice at her in school.

I step aside. “Come in.”

“Thanks.”

I close the door behind him and watch as he goes straight to my couch and plops down with Boo. The little traitor immediately lays on his chest for a cuddle.

“By all means make yourself comfortable. Can I get you something to drink?”

“I’ll take a water. Bottled.”

I purse my lips. “Okay.” I go into the kitchen and when I turn back around with the water, he has my phone.

“Logi bear?” one of his brow’s arches upward.

“None of your business.” I snatch my phone away and hand him the water. “Here. You said you wanted to talk so talk.” I sit in my chair and try not to grind my teeth at the fact that his boots are touching my couch.

He grins, twisting the cap off to take a drink.

He’s been here a total of two minutes and already I’m losing all my patience.

“Have you had dinner?”

“Why?”

“That’s why I’m here.”

“You’re here for dinner? Don’t be thinking I’m cooking for you.”

“Nah. Wouldn’t dream of it. You’d probably poison me. Prez invited us over to his place. His Ol’ Lady is making supper. Murder wants to officially meet you.”

“Murder? Your club president is a man named Murder and you think I’m going to go with you to his house for dinner. Are you out of your mind?”

“Alexa and the twins will be there.”

“The twins?”

“His kids.”

“And why does he want to meet me?”
