Delicate fingers tangled into my hair as I established a steady rhythm, rocking my hips in slow, concentrated thrusts that forced squeaks from her lips. She bit her lower lip, a blush stealing her cheeks as her pupils blew out, noises muffled only barely so by her attempting to keep them under control.

I grinned mischievously as I reared back and returned with a demanding vengeance, her control nearly breaking as I plunged into her depths. Nothing could have distracted me from my task. No one could have possibly pulled me away from her. Even the devil himself would have found it challenging, my dedication so absolute that my limbs worked of their own accord.

Slow thrusts became surging pumps that rocked her up the bed. Her head rested on the headboard, her hands following to keep herself in a steady position. I leaned back and grabbed her hips, lifting her to continue my invasion. She arched her back to expose more of her muff for me to take.

And I gladly took every inch of her. I dug my nails into her skin, my cuspids extending as I bowed forward and dragged the tips of my fangs against her neck. She whimpered as she wrapped her legs around my waist and nudged me deeper.

Were I to obey her desires, I would have broken her in half. My dragon begged to be released, clawing at the surface that kept him in place. I struggled between man and beast until I lost myself entirely to the burning flames that fueled my desire. I lost myself to her.

I buried my fangs into her shoulder. There was no going back once I sampled her blood. I took my fill, cementing our bond in a blanket of white light that echoed around us. The golden rope between us grew taut and nearly snapped, the winding path straightening so that the connection was no longer mistaken.

We were bonded now. We were mates forever.

Brianna’s mewls brought me back to the moment. I released her neck and doubled my thrusts, smacking so hard into her that I lost sight of everything. A crushing weight lifted as she wound her legs tight around me and convulsed, inspiring me to release my load.

Seconds later, I collapsed into the bed, curling my body around Brianna, unwilling to let her go, even when her phone buzzed incessantly from the ground. I shook my head, begging her to stay with me on the sheets where only our scent existed.

“It’s my brother,” she whispered. “I’m sorry, Marshall. I have to answer it.”

“Save it for later.”

She chortled. “How about I promise something in return?”

“Like what?”

“Like a blowjob for your patience.”

I perked up, my smile lazy and lustful all the same. “You have my attention.”

She pecked my lips. “You got a deal.”

“Want me to leave the room?”

“No, my business is officially your business.” She held up her ring. “Forever, remember?”

I smiled warmly as I relaxed into the pillows, watching her rummage through the mess on the ground to locate her phone. When she found it, she answered the call, holding the phone between her shoulder and ear while trying to pull on her panties.

I pinched my lips together to keep myself from laughing. After struggling with her panties, she tossed them aside, standing tall with one hand on her hip as she nodded, listened, and then replied, “Do you want me to call Geraldine?”

Silence.

I studied my bride, wondering what was going on that warranted her to look so worried. I could only guess if it was her brother—that brilliant, yet sloshed, doctor.

She nodded. “Alright, I’m calling Geraldine. Don’t go anywhere.” She closed her eyes and pinched the bridge of her nose. “You said what to Father?”

I licked my lips, trying my best to hide my smile. I hope it was rude.

She shook her head. “No, if you go back inside, he’ll challenge you to a fight and you will lose, Nathaniel. Think of the boys.”

I raised my eyebrows in question.

Brianna mouthed the word, “Cousins.”

I nodded and went back to staring at the sheets, patiently waiting for my mate to get off the phone. Though now that I could see her tense stance and alert muscles, I wanted to join her. I wanted to take care of her brother as much as I wanted to take care of her. She was my family now.

Although she wasn’t my only family.

I swallowed hard, the emotional night finally catching up with me. Once Brianna got off the phone, she crawled over the bed and slumped into my arms, groaning when I ran my fingers through her wavy hair.

“All is well, my love?” I asked. “I mean, it didn’t sound so, but…”

“It will be fine soon,” she sighed. “I have to text Geraldine. Nathaniel decided to drink the alcohol tent out of business.”

I snorted. “I mean if your father paid for it…”

She snarled and lifted her head. “Don’t talk about my brother that way, Marshall.”

I cupped her cheek while giving her an apologetic frown. “Yes, darling. My mistake.”

Her eyes softened, tears welling at the edges, one of them spilling over. I swept it away with my thumb.

I held her gaze as I whispered, “Everything will be alright.”

“You promise?”

“Yes, my love,” I assured her. “I promise…”
