CHAPTER11

Colby

Ifrowned as Rafe jerked the meat away from me as I reached out to take it from him. I didn’t care for the fact that he was touching my food, especially when there were forks around, but my rumbling stomach was overriding my preference.

“What did I say?”

My frown deepened at his question. What the hell was he talking about? “What do you mean?”

“You’re hungry?”

“Yes,” I said in a sarcastic tone. I couldn’t seem to help myself. He aggravated me. Arsen for some reason made me feel safe. I wasn’t sure how I felt about Sig yet, but Rafe made me want to punch him in his smug face more often than not.

“Good. Then ask for me to feed you.”

My blinks were slow and exaggerated. “I’m sorry, what?” He was out of his fucking mind if he thought I was going to beg him for food, let alone to feed me. What fucking game was this asshole playing?

He shrugged a massive shoulder and placed the meat into his mouth. Bright white teeth flashed at me in a mocking smile as I watched him chew the bite that was supposed to be mine. He scooped some rice into his mouth and said something in Russian to Arsen. The mountain laughed, but kept his head down, focusing on his plate. It was almost as if he could feel my death glare bouncing between him and his friend.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” I growled at Rafe as he continued eating.

“Nope. If you’re hungry, all you have to do is ask.”

No. All I had to do was suffer the humiliation of asking him to provide for me. To feed me. Crossing my arms over my chest, I gave him a mulish glare. I’d rather be hungry. Surely he wouldn’t let me starve.

He shrugged again and polished off the plate of food with surprising efficiency. I watched, my mouth watering and stomach complaining as he did. Not a peep left my lips, though.

After breakfast, they cleaned up the area, doused the fire and ushered me back into the hut. Arsen shook Sig awake.

The blond rolled over and opened one eye, glaring at Arsen. “What?”

Arsen replied in Russian and I rolled my eyes as I sat on Rafe’s cot. I had a feeling they’d end up speaking a lot of Russian around me.

Can’t let the American know what they’re saying. The thought was filled with disgust and sarcasm.

There was nowhere else to sit in here so I got as comfortable as I could. It didn’t matter that it washisbed, it was better than the floor. I wasn’t feeling particularly fond of Rafe at the moment. My stomach gave a grumbling agreement. I wondered if they always lived so sparsely. The base I’d been assigned to hadn’t been The Ritz, but they’d given us a lot more than these men had.

Warm meals that you didn’t have to beg for, just for starters.

“Alright,” Sig said in response, already halfway asleep again. “Colby.” I glanced over at him. “Come here.”

Staying where I was, I held my ground. They weren’t the boss of me and I was sick of being ordered around.

“Go, Little Warrior,” Arsen urged. When I didn’t move, he sighed, deep and heavy.

A hand clamped down over my bicep and I sprang to my feet and shoved Rafe’s chest as hard as I could. He was starting to piss me off with his high handed ways.

He jerked me forward until I collided with his chest, knocking a gasp from my throat. “You’ll stay here with Sig.” He marched me over to his friend.

Glaring at him, I waited next to the cot. His silvery eyes narrowed on my face. “Get on the cot on your own, or I’ll put you there.”

Tired of having him manhandle me, I jerked my arm out of his grasp and laid down in front of Sig, giving him my back. His arm wrapped around my waist and he rearranged me until I was in a more comfortable position for him. That is to say, his dick pressed against me and his arm around my breasts.

I glared silently up at Rafe, who returned the look. We were butting heads and pissing each other off. It was his fault for being a dick. I hadn’t asked to be brought here. I didn’t want to stay. He was forcing me. The least he could do was be a little understanding.

Understanding that men shouldn’t kidnap women.

I shut my eyes, blocking him out and giving him the cold shoulder. As soon as I heard their boots thumping across the old floor, tears spilled, unbidden from my eyes. It wasn’t very warrior-like, but I just wanted to go home. Of course, there was nothing left there for me anymore. That realization made the tears flow harder. I tried to hold back the sniffles. I didn’t want any of them knowing they’d made me cry.
