Be Mine Forever (Detectives Kane and Alton)

“And you were right. You’re too darn stubborn to die.” She smiled.

Kane rolled his eyes to the ceiling. “Darn, we missed the Fall Festival dance again.”

“But I did bring flowers for my date.” Jenna giggled.

Early morning sunlight streamed through the blinds and he took in the vase of flowers with the bright blue balloon at the end of his bed. There was a message on the balloon and it read: It’s a boy! He chuckled. “Uh-huh.”

“They’d run out of, ‘Get Well Soon’ balloons and it’s the thought that counts, right?” Jenna laughed, and her eyes sparkled with mischief.

Kane squeezed her hand. “I’ll treasure it forever.”
