ChapterTwenty-Five

Cindy

Logan didn’t honor my request because he had something better in mind.

I hummed out a moan as he lowered his mouth to my clit. His hands parted my thighs, held me in place as his tongue slowly circled. This wasn’t a chore to him. Something he had to check off the list before he got his. He stopped, paying attention to my every reaction. Every flutter and pulse of my muscles.

The edges of my vision were beginning to blur as he stoked the flames deep inside me. They’d been ignored for so long they were barely embers. I didn’t think I could ever feel this way.

But Logan would make it happen.

So the fuck what if this man never shifted ever again. He’d made me feel like the center of his universe. Me. An overlooked, tired mom who lived on the side of a mountain in Colorado, was being driven over the brink by one of the biggest movie stars in the world.

Logan knew exactly what he was doing to me. He’d found the places that made the fire ignite, and he was determined to build it into an inferno.

Pleasure rocketed through my veins. A little piece of the old me felt like I didn’t deserve to feel this good. This cherished. But my wolf was screaming at that ghost of Cindy past to shut up and enjoy this.

Just when I didn’t think I could take anymore, Logan stopped.

Lifting himself up, flexing those biceps as he rose, he crawled toward me. A growl emitted from his lips, the vibration resonating over my skin, sending another wave of sensation through me. He didn’t even have to touch me to bring me to the edge.

Damn.

His lips were on mine, sweet and salty with the taste of my arousal. I couldn’t get enough of it. I wanted every single thing this man, this wolf, had to offer. I curled my fingers into his skin, wishing I could rip him open and set his wolf free.

Not because he was incomplete without it. Because I knew what it meant to him to not be able to shift.

His cock was hot and hard against my hip. I reached for it, running my hand up and down the shaft. Logan’s head fell back. Eyes closed. Sounds that were more wolf than human escaping his swollen lips. Now it was my turn to make him lose control.

He clasped his hand over mine, locking it in place. His eyes snapped open, and he pinned me with his gaze. Gently, he moved my hand away from his shaft. His hands were on my hips, positioning me so he could come inside.

I took his face in my hands and kissed him. Long and deep. This wolf didn’t miss a beat as he lifted my hips, his tongue tangling with mine as he slipped inside me, filling me. Making me feel like the fierce fucking she-wolf I always knew I could be.

He moved my hips up and down, each stroke deep and steady. Those flames he’d stoked with his tongue moments before began to rise again, and he stilled the motion, deep inside me, as he reached for my clit.

My bones turned to jelly. My head fell back, and his lips were on my neck. He was whispering things about forever and mine.

All I knew was I wanted more. Logan Mathis was my mate, and absolutely nothing would keep us apart.

* * *

I hadn’t slept so well in a long time, safe and warm in Logan’s arms. Maybe it was the new bed too, and the fact that Pedro’s stuff had been removed from my closet.

But I was pretty sure it was Logan.

The door slammed against the wall, and I peeled an eye open, trying to guess which twin had barged in. It was pretty much a daily occurrence, more reliable than any alarm clock.

“Carter made breakfast,” Caleb said. “So you don’t have to get up, Mommy. You must be tired after—wait. Why is he in your bed?”

“Logan will be here a lot from now on,” I said.

We hadn’t officially discussed him moving in, or us moving to a bigger, better place. But I was tired. My body ached. Not because I’d shifted. More like, because it had been too long since I’d done it, and it wanted more.

It wanted more of so many things.

My plan had been to get up before the boys—which was laughable at best—and explain this to them over pancakes.

I faintly remembered Bibi saying Marissa would be bringing breakfast... I shot up, covering myself with the sheet.

“What did Carter make?”

“Cereal. We all had some. Even Charlotte. And sandwiches.”

“What kind?”

“Peanut butter and pickles.”

I groaned. It wasn’t because Pedro used to eat that to gross me out, or that he got the boys hooked on them, but the bread and peanut butter should’ve been out of their reach. I could only imagine what was waiting for me in the kitchen.

“I’ll be out in a minute. Close the door behind you.”

Caleb did as he was told. Logan was lying beside me, grinning. He had a little more than a day’s worth of scruff on his chin, and his hair was wild. It would be heaven to climb on top of him and take care of the erection that was brushing against my thigh, but I had kids. These moments would have to be stolen and cherished for the luxury they were.

Logan pulled me in for a lady-part searing kiss.

“I’m so happy I’m waking up next to you,” he said.

“I wish I didn’t have to get up.”

I pulled the sheet with me. Now that it had been established I was awake, the boys would no longer consider knocking a requirement for entry to any room in the house. That was something I’d have to mention during Logan’s orientation.

“Hey,” Logan said.

I turned around.

“Your mark is gone.”

“What?” I pulled my hair out of the way and twisted my body so I could see my shoulder in the mirror. My skin was smooth, like the telltale scar never existed. And if I didn’t believe my eyes, the dull ache that had persisted for the last few years, once I realized I didn’t belong with Pedro, was gone.

“How?”

Logan shrugged. “Maybe it didn’t come back after you shifted.”

Or maybe it disappeared once I was with my true mate.

I headed into the closet, cursing the fact I’d let Bibi toss all my comfy clothes. Just because they were also maternity wear was beside the point. But I was still grinning like an idiot, because Pedro’s mark was gone.

I might have reached back to touch the skin. Gone.

I found a new shirt that slid off the shoulder—like Bibi knew I’d have something I might want to show off, paired it with leggings, and put my hair in a ponytail. I wanted everyone to know I was free.

Logan already had his pants on. “Pretty sure I left my shirt in the living room.”
